ROLE SUMMARY

As the healthcare communications and technology landscape in the Pharma industry evolves, the Medical Channel Excellence team focuses on navigating a complex regulatory environment to optimize engagement with healthcare providers across digital channels and platforms, driving improved education, clinical/business decision making, and allowing timely health information to close care gaps - with integrity. Leadership of innovative digital channels and platforms alongside medical insights, the team will optimize existing channels and identify new ones, ensuring seamless integration while staying at the forefront of digital capabilities.

The Digital Medical Engagement Director plays a critical role in developing a comprehensive digital strategy that execute scientific communications plans/data dissemination in partnership with the Global, US, and International Medical Content Channel and Medical Affairs teams, integrating digital platforms and channels to enhance engagement with healthcare professionals. This individual will also demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, creativity, and entrepreneurship to ensure the compliant dissemination of scientific data and education to our healthcare audiences. The Digital Medical Engagement Director brings medical expertise in scientific communications and medical strategy to the role, harnessing the ability to execute efforts across digital and social platforms.

The Digital Medical Engagement Director will report into the Digital Medical Engagement Team Lead as part of the overarching Medical Channel Excellence team and provide clear and actionable guidance about the evolving digital landscape, specifically regarding the assigned channel, to cross-functional stakeholders in medical - harnessing a "Dare to Try" culture driven by thoughtful risk balanced with integrity.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Digital & Social Media Channel Strategy

  • Acts as a subject matter expert (SME) and champion to develop and execute on advanced strategic creation of medical digital framework, integrating healthcare provider insights and channel expertise across all Pfizer medical products and markets across the globe.

  • Influences all Pfizer medical strategic scientific communications approach and plan, execution, and optimization of assigned digital and social media channel(s), orchestrating the dissemination of accurate scientific content to HCPs and other medical stakeholders, in alignment with MA-01.

  • Influences MEI leadership and MA leadership decisions on the long-term vision with short-term vision for digital and social media efforts, identifying barriers and enablers to catalyze the organization to develop, connect, and deliver upon the Medical Channel Excellence Team vision.

  • Identify innovative digital and social media solutions that align to the impact the Global Medical Affairs strategy and shape the digital roadmap and quickly deliver highest value outcomes at scale, executing on pilot projects to test/scale innovative medical digital efforts while solving highly complex challenges.

  • Enhance Global and US medical channel strategies for delivering scientific information digitally, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy, accessibility, and relevance.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including medical affairs, commercial, corporate communications, medical content, Integrated Media Strategy, digital/OSS, and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment across priorities and channels.

Medical Channel Execution, Analytics, and Metrics

  • Leads and coordinates insights and metrics strategy with internal stakeholders and Medical Analytic team to demonstrate the optimization of HCP engagement, content, and channel plans to use data and analytics to influence future planning.

  • Acts independently to lead, monitor, and analyze channel performance through robust KPIs and metrics to ensure effectiveness, usability, and relevance.

Cross-functional Collaboration around Medical Governance

Liaise with Global and US internal stakeholders, including Medical, Regulatory, Digital Readiness Team (DRT), Commercial, and Digital teams, to ensure alignment of technical specifications, customer user journeys, scientific content dissemination advancements (device agnostic), and compliance with industry and company regulations.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum degree requirement of PharmD/PhD/MD or DO with at least 3-5 years of relevant experience in a Medical Affairs organization.

  • 6+ years of experience needed with PharmD/PhD; 3+ years of experience with MD/DO

  • Experience in developing and executing digital/omnichannel data dissemination plans.

  • Highly motivated with demonstrated track record of high performance with outstanding results.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple stakeholders.

  • Strong strategic skills including creativity and effectiveness in proactively identifying and addressing challenges.

  • Grasp scientific context and assimilate perspectives from stakeholders across Medical, Digital and those with digital channel expertise.

  • Strong track record of written and oral communication skills to develop and present scientific information to varied audiences and articulate messages succinctly.

  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, data privacy, and industry standards related to digital content dissemination.

  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading complex, cross-functional teams in developing omnichannel and/or multichannel strategy.

  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare industry trends and evolving digital delivery methods for scientific information to HCPs

  • Experience leading cross-functional efforts in digital content management.

  • Relevant therapeutic area expertise (primary care, specialty care, vaccines, oncology)

  • Experience in global medical communications and understanding of applicable regional legal and regulatory hurdles.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Travel as required, up to 20% of role.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $161,600.00 to $269,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
