As Chief of Staff of the Microsoft Solutions Sales Strategy & Business Development team you will work closely with the General Manager in driving the rhythm-of-business (RoB), organization communications and executive communications (external and internal), team connectedness, and management processes. You will be a critical driver to mold the mission of the team, lead and contribute to special projects, and help build on the value system of the team. You must think strategically at a global level, and create execution plans that span both strategic and tactical considerations. It is essential that you can look ahead to impacts and dependencies, be constantly thinking about next best action. You will be empowered to develop new processes, and streamline existing ones, to contribute to the efficient and impactful operations for the organization. You will often represent the General Manager in meetings with their team, peers and at times, with their management, therefore strong executive presence is required.
This position requires extensive cross-group coordination at all levels, excellent organizational, communications and management skills - especially for a largely remote and distributed team; and the ability to be proactive. It is essential that you can build compelling internal/external presentations and comprehensive business review materials, as well as well-written internal and external written communications. You should be well versed in the Microsoft business rhythm and able to plan ahead - this is a critical point - proactive engagement and a strong feel for future needs of the business. Ability to understand and maneuver the WW Commercial Business (WCB), Marketing & Engineering is beneficial. Overall Scope/Impact: This position is directly responsible for driving all the business management functions that will ensure effectiveness of the team’s operating rhythm, including developing and implementing key leadership connections, and setting up processes to get work done.
Business Process: Lead and coordinate the internal LT and Extended Team RoB to improve processes and ensure the business runs efficiently. This role also plays a critical role in driving coordination and collaboration with other parts of the organization across WCB. The Chief of Staff will establish the Rhythm of the Business for the team, and work with Finance and HR organizations to coordinate business processes and management control processes etc. Partner with finance and the procurement desk to ensure effective budget management and forecasting. Partner with recruitment & HR teams to meet hiring requirements and elevate staffing conversations with the LT. Oversee Group vendor and procurement spend and create a plan to maximize shared services and efficiencies.
Business Planning and Leadership: Partner with the leadership team and extended team to manage the planning process, ensuring coordination with corporate planning processes as well as planning integration across solutions as-a-whole. This team has a passion for the success and health of the selling field and your support with direct field engagement will be required. Work with cross-division and cross-company/team counterparts to manage team participation as needed for fiscal year planning, WCB RoB, Field VSUs/QBCs, run internal business reviews and other strategic business planning activities. Management of LT processes and agenda, including follow through, and related communications. Participate as a valued LT member who can offer synthesized business perspectives relevant to influencing key strategic decisions.
Communications: Plan and execute communications strategy with creativity and strategic vision. Drive internal communication, memos and presentations for team meetings and other internal communications at major corporate milestones. Plan and manage team meetings including All Hands, staff meetings and manager meetings. Establish and maintain communication vehicles and collaborate across teams of Marketing & Engineering to ensure close alignment & complementary messaging.
Team Development: Help make Microsoft a great place to work by partnering with HR and the leadership team to shape and drive the people agenda, plan morale events, lead team health initiatives including participation in the Workgroup Health Index (WHI) v-team. Partner with HR to drive MS Poll action planning for the work group. Orchestrate team trainings and brown-bag series to contribute to ongoing growth and career development. Define, plan and drive cross-team process improvements (e.g., team recognition, career development program, diversity & inclusion program, development of business plans and RoB)
Special Projects: Drive high-impact cross-team projects as needed to meet the changing business environment and ensure the team is achieving commitments. Successful project management, including work with strategy consultants and other external agencies, on strategic efforts that require hands-on experience across multiple functional disciplines and business organizations.

Has the ability to operate at senior levels of the company with utmost executive maturity, develop key processes and procedures that facilitate management of the business, and build successful relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally to drive results.
Has a deep understanding of the managing rhythm of business, be able to understand complex business and product strategies, and be able to translate key themes and tactics into understandable, executable components and messages for broad consumption. Strong project management skills to support driving cross group initiatives is also an advantage.
Has the ability to operate in an ambiguous environment, with minimal supervision, which means strong personal drive and self-motivation is critical.
Has strong process and organizational skills, and the ability to think strategically about subsidiary revenue, scorecard and competitive shared goals.
10+ years of experience in marketing, finance, project management, and/or business management
Strong project management skills: ability to drive multiple high-profile projects forward, effective leverage of all resources to drive results, ability to create excellent processes
Creativity in solving problems and generating innovative solutions
Strong business acumen and analytical capabilities
Demonstrated experience proposing, debating and managing executive level proposals and presentations
Internal and external negotiations experience with ability to work across organizational boundaries to build alignment
Well-honed written, verbal and creative communication skills, including ability to translate insight into content, create slide and written presentations, create overall communication plans
