Aerostructures Engineering Group Manager

Position Overview:

Primary duty is to be the Aerostructures Engineering Group’s team’s coach; to develop and sustain a highly capable, technically competent, effectively utilized, and highly productive engineering team. Must assure the business’ goals will be achieved. Manager’s success is achieved only when his team is successful. Reports to the Aerostructures Division Manager in Manassas, VA .

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Indirect budget management as assigned

  • Engineering resource utilization at or above goal

  • Technical competency of assigned engineering group(s)

  • Technical quality of group’s engineering output

  • Continuously improve engineering group productivity

  • Product development process and procedure (SLP) development and maintenance

  • Reviewing engineering task orders and making proper engineering assignments

  • The group’s workload forecasting and management

  • Developing and leveraging group deputies to assist in administering the group’s needs

  • Effective and productive communications with business leaders, program managers, peers, subordinates, and customers.

  • Mentoring and developing assigned engineering group members into high-value contributors and future leaders.

  • 100% on-time delivery of high-quality performance appraisals

  • Support fluctuating business needs (B&P, RFQs, etc.) as necessary

  • Evaluate suppliers and support supply chain management as required

    Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Mechanical or Aerospace. Advanced degrees highly desirable.

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in aircraft aerostructures design, analysis, and manufacturing with emphasis on carbon composite primary airframe structures

  • Highly effective technical writing and oral presentation skills mandatory

  • Must be well experienced in preparing BOEs in support of proposals.

  • Specific preferred competencies include CATIA V5 primary and secondary aircraft structuredesign, carbon composite materials and manufacturing processes including both wet lay-up, oven, and autoclave curing; fabrication tooling design, FEMAP/NASTRAN stress analyses.

    Desired Requirements:

  • Experience with Military type / FAA / EASA certification desirable

  • Must be a US Citizen or Legal US Permanent Resident
