Draper is conducting a nationwide search for a highly innovative engineer/scientist leader with significant technical experience in optics-based instruments and systems. The successful applicant can expect to lead complex technology development efforts. Responsibilities will range from technology portfolio management, to program leadership, to business development, including specific leadership tasks such as: proposal management, concept modeling and simulation, design and development, electronics and algorithms concept design, interface definition, overall implementation and test, and project and tech-portfolio management.
B.Sc., or equivalent degree, in optics, physics, mathematics, electrical engineering, or computer science.
The applicant should have 10+ years technical experience in developing complex instruments and systems.
The applicant's background must include instances of technical leadership and organization management in developing optical & opto-electronic systems.
The applicant must be accustomed to project coordination and proposal development duties, as well as leading hands-on engineering work, and be able to independently organize the stand-up of infrastructure required to develop hardware, software and test procedures for optical systems.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
Must be willing to travel.
The applicant must be highly motivated with a willingness to learn and participate in an exciting team environment.
