Guidehouse has a unique position focus on Sustainability. We are looking for a motivated, creative individual to partner with our leadership to drive and grow sustainability consulting across the firm, with an additional focus on the rapidly growing corporate sustainability market in the US. This is a sales & business development focused leadership role.

Our Directors are the leaders and drivers of the firm. Sustainability Consulting Directors architect solutions to meet client needs. They identify business development opportunities and drive them to completion. Sustainability Consulting Directors oversee teams and client engagements from start to finish, providing intellectual direction, guidance, support, motivation, and quality assurance. In addition, Sustainability Consulting Directors are responsible for developing teams and individuals through coaching and feedback and always promote a culture of excellence. Sustainability Consulting Directors are expected to build trust with clients during the sales and delivery process using clear communication and demonstrated advanced technical knowledge. Sustainability Consulting Director p articipation in industry and networking events is expected. Sustainability Consulting Directors often work extended hours at our client site, which can be nearby, or abroad on occasion.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with Guidehouse team members across public and private sector accounts to grow Sustainability Consulting brand and revenue – including Thought Leadership, offering development, new sales, account management, and finally project management.

  • Identify opportunities and architect consulting solutions for both the public and private sector clients, including sustainability transformation, sustainability program management, and decarbonization finance

  • Utilize your Track Record and contacts in broad areas of Sustainability Consulting to help expand our market presence and close new projects

  • Meet new business and earnings financial goals; proven record in account management and annual sales of at least $2MM

  • Develop client and pursuit strategies

  • Manage contracts and legal issues

  • Manage and mitigate project, account management, and other risks

  • Identify key client interests and drivers on projects and pursuits and communicate with team members

  • Lead proposal development and pursuit of business development opportunities

  • Develop strong relationships with clients, project teams, teaming partners and contractors

  • Leverage professional networking skills and a robust set of contacts across the industry to help identify and pursue project opportunities

  • Participate in internal Guidehouse initiatives aimed at improving the firm


  • Master’s degree or MBA

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in consulting and/or the energy/sustainability/ESG space

  • Intellectual agility, creativity, and flexibility

  • Knowledge of the Sustainability space e.g, ESG, Sustainability strategy, carbon tracking/accounting, decarbonization finance

  • Additional experience in areas such as the resilience/sustainability nexus and perspectives on the forces of transformation driving change across the industry

  • Experience in relevant corporate sectors, including:

  • Food and beverage (F&B)

  • Apparel

  • Energy

  • Public Sector agencies

  • Demonstrated sales and delivery track record with annual sales of at least $2MM

  • Executive-level presentation, writing, and oral communication skills

  • Demonstrated success leading high performing teams

  • Fluency in English (working language)

    Preferred Qualifications

    In addition to the above listed:

  • PhD in relevant field

  • Previous experience in consulting, especially at a large firm

  • PMP certification

  • Additional languages (e.g., Spanish and Portuguese)
