Lab Summary: The Advanced Materials Lab in Burlington, MA is part of Samsung Research America headquartered in Mountain View, CA. Position Summary: SRA?s Advanced Materials Lab (AML) in Burlington, MA is seeking an expert in electrochemical modeling to design and understand the electrochemical behaviors of energy storage devices. The ideal candidate will have expertise in developing new electrochemical/mechanical models to describe ionic and electronic transport and migration phenomena, particularly at the micro and nano-scale. Experience applying such models to nanocomposite materials design for electrochemical systems such as batteries or fuel cells is a major plus. Experience with commercial and open source software packages such as COMSOL, FENICS and MOOSE is a plus.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Analyze the current status of research in advanced materials to identify influential factors

  • Develop models and perform computations, advancing the state of the art in field of expertise.

  • Contribute to the Samsung mission for nextgeneration materials and energy storage device development.

  • Collaborate closely with colleagues at AML and in Korea, and with university partners.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field such as Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or Chemistry.

  • A strong background in developing new Electrochemical/Chemomechanical models.

  • Of particular interest are candidates with experience with nanocomposite materials design.

  • Selfmotivated with the ability to communicate clearly.
