We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support our growth within the Industrial Water Sector at Stantec. This senior level engineering role be responsible for the design and execution of projects ranging in size and complexity, with a focus on industrial water and wastewater treatment. Your Key Responsibilities
Responsible to plan, direct, and coordinate complex assignments independently; modify established technical guidelines and standards; and initiate new approaches
Drive effective project implementation, address key risk factors and oversee the project's technical planning process.
Deliver projects with complex features within an overall program.
Foster relationships in order to garner partnership with internal and external clients.
Delivering decisions and recommendations that have a direct and material impact on the organization. Errors in judgment or inaccuracies in mechanical design have material consequence to the organization's brand and financial success.
Apply a high degree of creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in planning, organizing, and guiding extensive programs and activities of major consequence.
Participate in the development of the regional marketing strategy to develop business and strategic plans as needed.
Engineer of record on own work product, work of non-licensed engineers and technologist.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Specialization in industrial process piping design
Lead industrial process piping design team
Develop construction bid documents
Bid review, proposal development, and manhour estimates
Development of design document including isometrics, piping layouts, materials specifications, etc.
Check or supervise pipe stress engineering analysis for complex units such as compressor piping, fired heater piping, high and low temperature piping systems.
Complete pipe stress analysis.
Knowledge of piping line class specifications, procurement, piping and fittings, pipe supports.
Assist in the development and update of department standards and procedures.
Develop and build Client relations.
Provide guidance/supervision to other engineers and function as a mentor to less experienced engineers.
Act as liaison with the other engineering disciplines; specifically Piping Design, Structural, Control Systems, Process Engineering and Construction.
Assembling calculation packages for the sizing of piping and valves, etc.
General knowledge of industry standards and best practices including ASME, ASTM, ANSI, API, AWWA, HI, PPI, among others.
Mechanical construction, startup, and commissioning field support: client, contractor, and vendor interaction.
Education and Experience
Minimum of bachelor’s degree Engineering with an emphasis in Mechanical Engineering
With a minimum of fifteen years of related work experience or, an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the Industrial sector
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience leading design teams
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
