VMware Senior Manager ( Engineering) - Opportunity for Working Remotely in Burlington, Massachusetts

The Security Analytics Engineering group is looking to hire a Senior engineering manager, who loves working on complex problems and getting things done. The teams focuses on using analytics, machine learning, and threat research on petabyte-scale data to deliver security value to millions of business users across thousands of businesses.

You will be instrumental in helping us solve complex low-latency, distributed systems challenges to handle our ever-increasing scale. Our system is a highly distributed, fault tolerant, multi-tenant platform that includes bleeding edge components related to storage, messaging, search, and analytics. This system ingests and analyzes terabytes of data a day, while making petabytes of data available for search and forensic analysisThe product portfolio is a part of the rapidly growing Carbon Black Cloud platform that delivers next-generation endpoint protection capabilities from the cloud. We are looking for a results-oriented Senior Engineering Manager that will help us in this journey of building a diverse team that will operate in a highly distributed environment. You will be leading one or more scrum teams, work with product management and partnering engineering managers in order to deliver and sustain high quality products that satisfy our customer needs.

Team Leadership : Lead and grow a team of engineers adept at building extremely high-volume, fault-tolerant, scalable backend systems that process and manage time series data.

Technical Vision : Re-evaluate architecture choices on an ongoing basis, in anticipation of increased scale and ever-evolving technology to meet the demands of a rapidly growing business. Leverage technical skills to successfully analyze and improve the efficiency, scalability, and reliability of our backend systems.

Product Leadership : Define and execute the roadmap by collaborating with partners in Product, Design, and Operations. Serve as the team’s Scrum Master, breaking down roadblocks as well as managing communications with stakeholders and dependent teams. Create a culture of continuous improvement through retrospection. What You’ll Bring

  • B.S/M.S in Computer Science or related areas.

  • Minimum of 7+ years of industry experience with a proven track record of ownership and delivery.

  • Minimum of 3+ years in a Management role.

  • Project management experience with Agile methodologies

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operational health

  • Ability to attract top talent and incorporate them into a highly functional and fun team

  • Experience operating in an AWS or other cloud environment, including an understanding of costs

  • Experience with high volumes of data using the latest technologies such as Kafka , Kubernetes and Docker.

  • You have implemented and/or lead teams building highly scalable, distributed and fault tolerant multi-tenant backend systems.

  • Evaluate requirements, estimate development costs, design and implement the software, review the design, architecture and implementation, and improve the development process.

  • Agile software development experience (test-driven development, iterative and incremental development).Experience in big data and/or 24x7 commercial service is highly desirable.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience in distributed systems and service-oriented architectures

  • Background and/or interest in Security

  • Understanding in NoSQL and/or Search Indexing technologies

  • Experience in CI/CD Environments
