Job Overview

As the Senior Embedded Systems Electrical Engineer you will be the interface between the cross-functional product development squads and the electronics and software platform teams. You will use your technical and leadership skills to ensure successful delivery of electronics systems for new product programs.

Responsibilities:

  • As the prime electrical and electronics technical contact on cross-functional product development squads, you will act as the agile product owner for the electronics subsystem for the product

  • Work with platform owner to ensure that the product squad priorities and expectations are fully understood and integrated into the platform's work priorities

  • Work closely with EE/SW platform owners and architects in defining embedded system solutions for assigned products

  • Collaborate with other technical leads within the product squad to

  • define interfaces between subsystems

  • create the design verification plan for the product

  • build, verify and maintain iterative subsystem and product prototypes that facilitate frequent test and learn opportunities

  • Own the Bill of Materials for the Electronics Subsystem

  • Ensure that all product squad requirements (deliverables, dates, tasks, etc) are brought back into the platform squads and documented

  • Provide transparency of the progress of the platform team to the product squad, able to "talk to" all JIRA items related to the platform that appear on the product board. Provide meaningful demos of completed work at agile squad events

  • Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the product squad learning plan,

  • Negotiate content of product interim releases/builds to align with platform development

  • Review with functional management the learning plan for scope and resource needs

  • Keep functional management and platforms informed of all significant product changes

  • Escalate to functional management if squad requirements cannot be accommodated by platform teams

  • Work as a member of the platform squad in delivering technical solutions (i.e. hands-on technical work)

  • Contribute to the requirements and architecture of future products during the pre-charter development phase

Qualifications

  • Proven track record of taking a consumer (or similar) product from concept through prototyping and development and into high volume production

  • Technical depth to be able to be a top contributor in either:

  • Electrical Engineering

  • Analog Design

  • Power supply

  • Digital design

  • Board design

  • EMC

  • Firmware – Embedded software

  • Bare metal

  • Linux

  • RTOS

  • Driver and electromechanical controls

  • IoT

  • GUI

  • C++ / Object Oriented

  • Technical breadth enough to understand and work with both firmware and electrical engineers and help create plans for the integrated systems

  • Experience with Agile (Scrum preferred) methodologies

  • Able to concisely document product requirements using most effective method (use cases, user stories, sequence diagrams, state charts, etc.)

  • Bias towards rapid incremental prototyping and test-to-learn over exhaustive documentation

  • Strong problem solving, debugging and troubleshooting skills

  • Experience working with contract manufacturers, preferably in Asia.

  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Related Engineering

  • 5+ years embedded microprocessor/ electronics hardware design experience a plus
