Job Description

CVS Health Digital is looking for a dynamic and driven Senior Development Engineer II to help lead the creation of best-in-class digital delivery within Platform Enablement. As a Senior Development Engineer II, you will be technically assisting the team of engineers to drive the delivery automation of our Digital Shared Services Platform. The platform is focused on providing a seamless customer experience, identifying, and analyzing system design weaknesses, along with troubleshooting complex technical issues. The Senior Development Engineer II is responsible for assisting the team technically around automation of access, incident, problem management, continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, secret automation, and problem management which will provide site reliability services while supporting operations and CI/CD of the platform. In this role, you will use your people management skills to support, manage and mentor other engineers with deep and varying technical backgrounds and experience. Additional responsibilities of the Senior Development Engineer II include:• Act as an executive technical leader across strategic efforts, leveraging partners, technical leads, and technical expertise to better inform processes and outcomes• Partner with technical leaders within CVS and the open-source community and contribute to product strategy, frameworks, roadmap definition, and requirements-gathering• Provide domain knowledge and engineering insight to guide early designs, accelerate project decision-making, and maintain close oversight of technical execution• Encourage and maintain engineering excellence on the team to build reliable distributed systems that our customers can build their business on• Become a trusted decision-maker for important projects with high technical or outcome risk• Plot and execute on the path from prototype to production for features• Collaborate with various areas of the organization including business partners, product owners, architecture, security, digital and engineering teams• Act as a technical owner across strategic efforts involving the Cloud, backend solution, streaming, and more • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement• Encourage a collaborative, open and dynamic team culture where individuals and team can realize their full potentialRole is able to work a Hybrid (at least 2 days per week) out of any of our following Corporate Hubs:• Woonsocket, RI• Burlington, MA• Florham Park, NJ• Chantilly, VA• Alpharetta, GA• Soho - NY• Hartford, CT

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

Minimum: 115,000

Maximum: 230,000

Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including location.

Required Qualifications

• At least 10+ years of experience in information technology• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Core Java and Java frameworks and experience design and implementing / maintaining RESTful APIs• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Implementing Spring Boot containerized API Service architectures (SOAP, RESTful with JSON) and Kubernetes• 4+ years in writing the infrastructure as code using Terraform or other similar technologies to deploy the microservices application infrastructure as well as understanding of cloud solutions on Google Cloud Platform and its services like GKE• 3+ years of application development using in Agile methodology

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines + Experience with Kubernetes, and GCP (Google Cloud Platform)• End to End DevOps hands-on knowledge and tools like GitHub, Artifactory, Harness, CircleCI or similar tools• Ability to design, develop and implement scalable, elastic microservice based platforms• Excellent problem solving/troubleshooting skills on Java/J2EE technologies• Ability to help/guide team in resolving technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation• Ability to work cross functionally with other teams to resolve dependencies, and ensure transparency• Understanding of Microservice patterns and concepts and troubleshooting issues along with fixing/remediating the defects and security vulnerabilities with Continuous Integration and automated testing strategies and tools• Is comfortable with Demoing work, and speaking to large groups of colleagues• Ability to research and learn new methodologies and technologies and bring knowledge to the team• Experience in working on Code Quality SAST and DAST tools like Checkmarx, Snyk, Whitesource (Mend), SonarQube/SonarCloud


Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent years of experience
