This diverse and important role within Beverage R&D enables Keurig Dr Pepper to maximize the impact of the Keurig system synergy (beverage, pod, and appliance) to partners, customers, and consumers. The product development scientist will:

• Lead Beverage Development driving new technologies as part of the Keurig Innovation System

• Generate ideas for beverage and system innovation working with consumer insights, marketing, appliance, and manufacturing teams

• Act as the key Beverage R&D representative assuring beverage requirements and quality considerations are included in Appliance and Beverage Innovation

• Advances the business by strengthening collaboration between Beverage and Appliance teams, while driving consumer led innovation with sound scientific method and technical excellence

  POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  This role is multifaceted, and will balance hands on formulation, product and process research on related enabling technologies, project management, participation/support in consumer science analysis and interpretation, experimental test method development, data analysis, and intense collaboration with cross-functional teams, specifically appliance and manufacturing teams.

  Responsibilities include:

• Drive development for coffee, new appliances, and products against the innovation pipeline

• Effectively collaborate with external partners to drive technical research

• Rapid prototype generation and testing (physical, chemical, sensorial attributes, and stability); data recording and analysis; create and maintain specifications; maintain lab equipment

• Source and develop new ingredients and/or beverage processing/packaging solutions

• Development of experimental plans with appliance, packaging, and manufacturing teams to test new technologies, assess feasibility and consumer test new ideas

• Create and drive timelines, actions plan, reports, and presentations to manage and communicate progress on a given initiative

• Educate cross functional partners on technical and scientific principles as necessary

• Represent beverage technical considerations including quality, sensory characteristics, stability, food safety, manufacturability, and functionality in appliance, package, and manufacturing initiatives- prepare and deliver effective recommendations

• Active participant in innovation brainstorm sessions as well as funnel current and developing trends to project teams

• Positively influence and engage in a creative, performance driven culture

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in food science or engineering discipline

• 3-6+ years of professional experience; Consumer Packaged Goods and/or pharmaceutical experience preferred

• Proficiency in understanding sensory and consumer sciences, consumer insights, as well as Good Lab and Manufacturing Practices, and Food Safety Regulatory Standards

• Adequate business orientation: ability to ask relevant questions, understand business case and consumer proposition

• Strong team player: experience in bringing teams/individuals together to deliver projects; strong thought and executional leadership
