Manager, Facilities in Burlington, MA AMRI provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. The Manager, Facilities oversees cleanroom and office facilities service operations to support manufacturing and quality in full compliance with GMP and other regulations; oversees design specification, contract negotiation, timelines and execution of numerous projects to enhance and maintain facility operations; optimizes the deployment of internal talent and utilization of contractors; promotes safety, compliance, best practices, engineering standards, resource optimization and utilization of reporting metrics. Responsibilities• Primary accountability for the leadership and management the Facilities group• Conducts inspection tours to monitor facility conditions and make recommendations for improvement• Develop facilities master plan and manage with capital and operations budget constraints• Oversee Preventive Maintenance program of facility and manufacturing /quality control equipment• Oversee work order process and manage applicable change control(s)• Manage Building Monitoring System for monitoring critical operational parameters of cleanroom facility• Oversee building security and alarm systems• Ensure facility operations are maintained per Federal, State and local guidelines• Participate in the development of standard operating procedures (SOP), deviations and investigations as necessary• Ensure equipment is kept in optimal working order and is in accordance with cGMP’s and user requirements; assures appropriate completion of repair and maintenance projects to support business operations• Responsible for office facility housekeeping• Equipment/systems supported include: autoclave, depyrogenation oven, vial washer, boiler, clean steam generator, lyophilizer, fill lines and support equipment, Purified Water loop, HVAC, hazardous waste, general plumbing, controlled temperature storage units and incubators• Oversee the negotiation and selection process for contracts, construction vendors, subcontractors and equipment manufactures• Ensures appropriate mix of internal talent and external resources to effectively support requirements, avoid downtime situations and minimize spending

Requirements• Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Engineering or related field strongly preferred; experience in lieu of degree to be considered• 7-10 years’ experience in progressive role within facilities engineering; at least 5 years’ experience within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or comparable highly regulated environment. Previous managerial experience strongly preferred• Experience with ISO5 cleanroom facility • Experience within HVAC, Boiler, Compressor, Plumbing, and/or Electrical highly desired• Solid engineering capabilities related to reviewing and approving construction designs, equipment installation and specifications• Possesses in-depth knowledge of the operation and troubleshooting of facility systems • Ability to train and motivate a workforce of technical and other qualified personnel Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee has the potential of being exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals (wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment will be required in these situations). The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; and may be expected to work with electronic equipment (always being aware of one’s environment and taking proper precautions is required). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Employee may be responsible for moving and/or generating hazardous waste for treatment, storage and disposal. Affected employee will need to be familiar with the applicable training requirements included in the customized Resources, Conservation and Recovery Act. Employee will understand waste labeling, secondary containment, chemical compatibility, storage time limits, container size and quantity limits, container integrity when waste is left unattended and improper disposal of hazardous materials.
