FAST Labs scientists partner with leading government research labs and organizations, including DARPA and IARPA, to develop innovative solutions to modern defense challenges. Members of the group are involved in the entire cycle of research development, from the initial concept ideation and program shaping with potential customers and new business pursuits through execution, including prototype development, testing, and debugging, and transition of research concepts to BAE Systems business areas and products.
Our scientists are involved in the entire cycle of research & development, from the initial concept development and program shaping with potential customers and new business pursuits through the execution and transition of research concepts to BAE Systems business areas and products. Team members are typically involved in multiple simultaneous programs with roles including technical leadership, algorithm design, analysis, customer interaction, program management, or new concept development. Most programs involve small teams of principal engineers and academically strong researchers.
We are seeking an RF Research Scientist to support technology areas that may include adaptive signal processing, optimization, detection & estimation, information theory, and automatic target recognition (ATR). These technologies are developed to apply to the domains of communications, radar, electronic warfare, signals intelligence, spectrum organization and optimization, to name a few.
This position can be based out of our Merrimack, NH; Burlington, MA; Arlington, VA; or Austin, TX facilities, though it will require collaboration with staff across our business areas and facilities in the Northeast.
Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format , with time split between working onsite and remotely.
Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship status and eligibility to obtain a US Top Secret security clearance.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
A Secret clearance is required
Education: Bachelors in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics; or related field and 4 years; MS and 2 years, or PhD
Experience/Expertise in one or more of the following:
Active and passive radar processing and exploitation
ELINT/SIGINT/COMINT/MASINT
Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Image Formation Processing (IFP)
Space-Time Adaptive Processing (STAP)
Adaptive signal processing / optimization
Automatic Target Recognition (ATR)
Polarimetric Radar
GMTI/SMTI/AMTI
Algorithm development / data analysis
Onboard radar processing
Space-Based Radar
Modeling & Simulation
Object detection, tracking and classification
RF, EO, IR, and hyperspectral phenomenology
developing software coupled to FPGA acceleration
Computer Skills:
- Expertise in MATLAB/Python required
Ability to attain DoD Top Secret (TS) clearance
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Top Secret or Top Secret/SCI desired
Computer Skills:
Experience/ Expertise with (one or more): C , CUDA, Python is highly desirable
Experience with Linux OS highly desirable
Experience with Real-Time embedded Software System Integration highly desirable
Other Desired Skills:
Writing proposals, Whitepapers, Tech-Marketing to DoD / IC customers
Technical presentations to DoD / IC customers

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $109120 - $185460
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
