We are currently seeking Electrical Engineering Interns to join our Summer 2020 internship program.

To qualify, you must be a Junior or higher in one of our preferred majors; possess a desire to build things; have a strong engineering aptitude; and thrive working in a team environment.

What You’ll Do

You’ll have real responsibilities that impact actual products and help pave the way on our development path. Whether you’re part of a team designing a new unmanned aircraft to be used for planetary surveillance, or working to test and verify design modifications to flight hardware/software systems, or helping to resolve flight behavior issues on a miniature unmanned aerial vehicle your AeroVironment internship will challenge you, stimulate you and provide you with real-world experience at one of America’s most innovative and creative tech companies.

You’ll use your hands-on knowledge and skills to participate in multiple phases of our Engineering/Manufacturing Design & Development process. You will support engineering and design activities in your discipline using tools such as Windtunnels, 3-D Printers, Solidworks, Altium, Ansys, Visual Studio, and Matlab.

  • Currently enrolled Junior, Senior or Grad Student pursuing a degree in Aero/Mechanical/Electrical or Computer Science/Engineering

  • This position requires U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder) due to ITAR.

Here’s what you’ll need to succeed:

  • UAV or Robotics experience

  • General engineering fundamentals, mathematics, physics, material properties

  • Completed coursework relevant to major

  • Flight test or R/C experience a plus

  • Hand-on experience with relevant tools

  • Familiarity with structured development techniques

  • Experience with software tools in your area of expertise

Interview/Hiring Process:

Candidates who are identified for the next step in the selection process will be contacted by a recruiter and scheduled for a phone interview with a hiring manager.

Hiring managers will make decisions and offers will be extended between December 2019 and January 2020.

AV offers the ultimate hands-on intern experience that will help prepare you for your future. We also provide relocation and housing for students out of state and have a 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off).



ITAR Requirement:

This position requires the use of information which is subject to compliance with International Traffic Arms Regulations (ITAR). To conform to U.S. Government export regulations/ITAR, applicants must be a U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S. (or, green card holder), protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. Applicants cannot be hired until they are qualified to have such access. Some positions due to contracts will require current U.S. Citizenship.
