Job Description

We are looking for a strong Data Science Engineer with good analytical skills who has the ability to work in an agile environment and work with cross-functional teams responsible for product design, integration and testing.

As part of the Oracle Retail Science R&D group, you will be working with data scientists, software developers and QA team to build data driven applications that solve retail business problems. Our team develops new ways to help retailers forecast sales, set prices, plan assortments and categories, and optimize their supply chain execution. What You’ll Do:

The Data Science Engineer is responsible for all aspects of front-end and analytics development including UI development of web applications, Web Services design/development, design and implementation of large-scale data mining and analytics processes, and implementing analytics algorithms in Java/Python.

  • Develop Java and JS code for web applications UI

  • Design and develop RESTful Web Services

  • Design and implement end-to-end flow for executing large-scale data mining and analytics processes using platforms like Spark and Kafka

  • Work with Data Scientists to understand the business problems and the analytics solutions and implement different algorithms in Java/Python

  • Identify & address application issues that affect application integrity

  • Ensure that the UI design fulfills functional & technical requirements, including design-for-performance

  • Analyze and ensure efficient transition of all technical design documents

  • Work effectively with Tech leads, Scientist and Data Science Developers to create and maintain the overall data architecture, priorities and success measures for the enterprise

  • Review the deliverables throughout development to ensure quality & traceability to requirements and adherence to all quality management plans & standards

What You’ll Bring (Objective Minimum Qualifications):

  • Have completed coursework, projects, internships, and or research in three or more of the following:

  • object-oriented programming

  • Java

  • Python

  • JavaScript

  • HTML

  • Parallel processing and job streaming (Spark and Kafka)

  • RESTful Web Services

  • Experience in developing responsive web applications

  • Experience with developing unit tests

  • Experience with Linux/Unix operating system

  • Knowledge of relational databases

  • knowledge of and ability to write SQL queries

  • Good analytical skills and understanding of basic concepts in data science

  • Experience working on analytic/data science projects like optimization and data mining is a plus

  • Able to balance and prioritize multiple concurrent projects effectively.

  • Eager to learn and work in an agile environment

  • Able to work and communicate with cross-functional teams responsible for product design, integration and testing

  • Reside in the United States and/or attend a university in the US.

  • Able to obtain work authorization in the US in 2024.

  • Have at least a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent science/engineering field between by August 2024.

US: Hiring Range: from $65,600 to $158,200 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

  10. Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
