Brockton Hospital Senior Director, Hospital Operations in Brockton, Massachusetts

Position Summary: Reporting to Sr. VP, Chief Operating Officer, the Senior Director, Hospital Operations is responsible for oversight of operational and financial performance of Hospitalist Service, Critical Care Unit, Emergency Room, Rehabilitation Services, Interpreter Services, Service Response Center, Food Service and Transport Departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Senior Director works in collaboration with Senior Team members, physician leadership, department Directors/Managers, finance, and nursing leadership to establish yearly performance goals for the areas of responsibility, which is aligned with the vision and mission of Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital.

  • Responsible for, but not limited to, departmental planning, creating a strategic growth plan, business development, and development as it relates to the capital and operating budget including: product-line development, budget calculations, report analysis and expense monitoring.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of financial systems in order to develop financial reporting structure to appropriately monitor strategic goals, including optimizing affordability of services.

  • Manages budgets, establishes decision making framework for all functions, and reviews all programs and policies for all areas of responsibility.

  • Ensures the departments meet operating guidelines as may be established by annual goals, including but not limited to: patient access, revenue cycle, patient satisfaction, and quality goals.

  • Participates in development of hospital policies, strategic and business plan for hospital.

  • Holds project/program responsibilities outside the defined areas of responsibility.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

    Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Must be able to reasonably make appropriate judgment in communications and actions with patients, physicians, other associates, outside agencies, and vendors.

  • Ability to function independently within broad scope of hospital policies and regulatory guidelines.

  • Knowledge establishing policies and procedures for areas of responsibility.

  • Sound business judgment, demonstrated communication and leadership skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with physician leadership to achieve common goals.

  • Broad knowledge policies and regulation requirements in an acute setting.

  • Strong communication, negotiation, presentation and effective management skills.

  • Education: Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration, Business Administration or similar

  • Experience (Type & Length): Extensive experience in health care management. Thorough working knowledge of hospital operations as they relate to the clinical areas from an administrative perspective.
