Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the Vice President of Operations and clinical guidance from the Chief of Cardiology, the Practice Manager of Testing and Cardiology Programs assists in the planning, organizing, and directing of non-invasive cardiac testing services and programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the Vice President of Operations, manages the daily operations of Cardiology Testing, Anticoagulation Management Program as well as Cardiology and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programs.

  • Supervise non-provider staff within assigned units to ensure effective and efficient patient flow and a high standard of customer service.

  • Responsible for managing the balanced scorecard for assigned units and implementing established plans and budgets.

  • Create an effective management relationship with the Chief and Vice President of Operations to establish joint ownership of the department.

  • Collaborate with MDs, peers and staff to develop service delivery improvements.

  • Working with the Vice President of Operations to implement Lean practices within the assigned departments and sites. Establish operational goals, and objectives, develop and maintain Tier 1 balanced score boards, and take part in and engage staff in problem-solving and idea generation.

  • Implement operating policies and procedures required to deliver quality patient care, enhance practice volumes, and appropriately manage the operating costs as directed by leadership. Assist in the management of financials for assigned practices.

  • Implement plans for the provision of cost-effective, high-quality health care services for new and existing patients.

  • Ensures staff understands and adheres to policies and procedures.

  • Ensure adequate staffing and performance (hiring, managing performance, counseling, and termination. Manage staff performance appraisals, regular feedback, coaching, supporting performance improvement, and handling corrective action if needed.

  • Implement directives, standard policies and procedures, and office protocols as approved by senior management or the board of directors of the practice and as directed by the Vice President of Operations.

  • Commits to recognize and respect cultural diversity for all customers (internal and external).

  • Communicated effectively with internal and external customers with respect to differences in cultures, values, beliefs, and ages, utilizing interpreters when needed.

  • Manages the day-to-day operation of the AMS Clinic and supervises the AMS staff.

    Anticoagulation Management Services:

  • Integrate education, research, management, and leadership into AMS clinical role.

  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meeting, and workshops.

  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, scheduling, assessing, and reviewing AMS program registered nurses.

  • Participate in the development of staff education surrounding anticoagulation management and facilitate the provision of ongoing education on current anticoagulation management research and recommendations to AMS nursing staff.

  • Assessing and monitoring Coumadin patients under the supervision of the Chief of Cardiology/Medical Director.

  • Provides supervision over cardiac ultrasound staff, EKG technicians, and Cardiac Device Management staff.

  • Manage optimal operating practices within the departments as well as maintain efficient staff to volume ratios.

  • Works collaboratively with Cardiology office managers to ensure departmental needs and expectations are met.

  • Create, review, and update protocols annually with the Chief of Cardiology/Medical Directors.

  • Function as a resource to other health professionals to ensure continuity of care.

    Required Knowledge and Skill:

  • Knowledge of outpatients operations, practice management and Cardiology Services.

  • Knowledge of outpatient anticoagulation management with clinical experience in the field.

  • Able to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues to facilitate the provision of quality care.

  • Able to work effectively and collaboratively with providers and staff.

    Education and Certifications/Licensures:

    I. Education: Bachelor's degree.
