Patient Advocate, 40 HRs/Week, Day Shift
Bachelors degree or equivalent professional working experience.
Three years work experience in health care and/or related field.
Work experience in patient advocacy or customer service preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential to perform the liaison role and to facilitate the smooth resolution of conflicts between the staff and a patient and/or family member or a visitor.
Ability to deal tactfully with extremely sensitive issues relating to patients.
Ability to deal effectively with a variety of people in situations which are often difficult and demanding (crisis intervention skills).
Sound judgment skills are required to know how to proceed and with whom to seek advice regarding the issues which arise (problem resolution skills).
Complete knowledge of Medical Center's policies and procedures necessary to provide interpretations and respond to inquiries.
Strong organizational skills to follow through to ensure closure on each case.
Must maintain confidentiality.
Excellent computer and analytical skills necessary to maintain centralized reporting and tracking systems to identify trends and evaluate problems and assessing the potential harm if the problems are not addressed.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to assess the psycho/spiritual issues underlying patient complaints and make referrals accordingly.
Trained in the area of Patient Relations.
Sensitive to the needs of patients and employees.
Demonstrates good judgment, assertiveness, and dependability in the performance of his/her role as Coordinator for Patient Care Relations.
The Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with Medical Center personnel at all levels.
Possess a high skill level for independent practice, problem solving and decision making abilities.
Ability to be flexible and to perform efficiently and competently.
