When it comes to environmental consulting, we’re focused on cleaning up our communities today to improve tomorrow. We’re looking for junior to mid-level Geologist or Environmental Scientist to support remediation efforts at the New Bedford Harbor Superfund Site (NBHSS) in New Bedford, MA.
The work will consist of overseeing contractor and craft labor during the remediation of the shoreline of New Bedford Harbor; collection of field data, weekly and monthly site inspections, geotechnical drilling support, sampling support, writing reports and workplans, and general site operations and maintenance. Work will take place in both site trailers and in the field. Some work can be accomplished remotely or in a local Jacobs office, but the majority will be done at the New Bedford Site.
We’ll rely on you to maintain strong relationships with internal staff and clients. You’ll be mentored by experienced staff who will help you grow your environmental consulting career at a place like no other. We’re seeking an innovator, ready to effectively and creatively implement the NBHSS remedial strategy You’ll be juggling multiple tasks, so we’ll rely on you to prioritize effectively on a day-to-day basis.
Most NBHSS plans will require thoughtful strategy development, leveraging technical expertise with client and stakeholder collaboration. The work needs to be delivered with high safety, compliance, and quality standards expected by both Jacobs and our clients. Here’s What You’ll Need:
Bachelor's degree in Geology or Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
Professional work experience within environmental consulting and conducting work under minimal supervision including experience with sampling various media (e.g., soil, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water and sediment), borehole logging and drilling subcontractor oversight, data assessments and evaluations, and site remediation.
Professional experience writing reports (text, table, and figure preparation)
Experience conducting site investigations/characterizations, feasibility studies, engineering evaluations, remedial designs/actions, and optimizing remediation systems
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
40 Hour HAZWOPER certification or ability to obtain
Ability to build relationships, motivate others, and provide strong leadership of teams to drive results
Prior experience with the Massachusetts Contingency Plan and the waste site cleanup program
Ability to work constructively and collaboratively with clients and stakeholders.
Construction management and scheduling experience
You will need to enter a medical monitoring program to work at NBHSS.
