About the Role

Boston University’s Center for Career Development (CCD) seeks a Yawkey Nonprofit Internship Coordinator. This role manages the Yawkey Nonprofit Internship Program – a selective program designed for second-and third-year undergraduate students that provides funding to support participation in unpaid internships at nonprofit organizations. This includes: developing content for promotion of the program to students, supporting students from the selection process through the completion of the internships, and planning and implementing internship orientations and additional career development events. As a member of the Employer Engagement Team, this role participates in office and campus-wide activities and events particularly as it relates to student access to internship opportunities. It also works with the Yawkey foundation, which funds the program, to assess the program’s effectiveness.

The Yawkey Nonprofit Internship Coordinator works closely with all staff members within the CCD, as well as a broad range of key campus partners throughout the University in addition to Boston University students and employers. This role reports to the Manager of Internship Programs.

The Yawkey Nonprofit Internship Coordinator’s primary duties include:

  • Management and tracking of student applications for the Yawkey Nonprofit Internship Program, the selection process, and the allocation of awards;

  • Educating students and employers with written materials, online information, and orientations to support strong internship experiences;

  • Monitoring student internships through review of learning contracts, ongoing interaction with students and employers and mid-internship and internship completion communication

  • Collection and review of reflective essays from student interns regarding their experiences;

  • Planning, coordination, and presenting Yawkey Internship Orientations for students, Internship Preparation Workshops, Employer Internship Information Sessions, Selection Committee Orientations and facilitation of selection committees;

  • Provision of timely and accurate information regarding internship award recipients to appropriate University departments to ensure timely processing of stipend payments;

  • In collaboration with the CCD colleagues, coordination of related events such as Networking Nights and Internship Insights;

  • Tracking student and employer engagement throughout the internships and beyond (student engagement in career development events and activities, employer engagement in campus recruiting, etc.), and;

  • Collection and compilation of data on internship participation and outcomes, used to produce a detailed annual report for the Yawkey Foundation and making recommendations for strengthening and improving the program.

About the Candidate

A Bachelor’s degree is required for this position. We are seeking a candidate who:

  • Has 1-3 years of relevant experience, preferably in program and event management;

  • Communicates effectively;

  • Demonstrates attention to detail, and;

  • Has strong organizational skills.

    Previous experience in a higher education or college recruiting environment is preferred, but not required.
