AECOM Water Resources Engineer/Groundwater Modeler in Boston, Massachusetts

Job Summary

AECOM seeks a Water Resources Engineer/Groundwater Modeler to provide technical expertise and specialized consulting advice in groundwater hydrogeology and subsurface water engineering in our Chelsmford, Boston MA, or Providence RI offices.

The scope of this position focuses on the modeling of groundwater flow, solute fate and transport, and hydrogeology, but is expandable to water and natural resources such as hydrology and hydraulics, riverine and coastal hydrodynamics, and stormwater management design and permitting. The individual should demonstrate a comprehensive understanding in physical, chemical, and hydraulic principles in water resources and design projects. Candidates should possess the ability to independently perform design projects on various water applications including stormwater, and have strong GIS and CADD skills.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Provide advice and counsel to staff and clients in his/her area of expertise.

  • Act as an internal technical resource for AECOM staff nationally and internationally.

  • Plan and manage water resources projects and task assignments.

  • Support the group and business through applications of current and evolving technology.

  • Create and expand technical resources of staff, act as a mentor, and aid in staff development.

  • Actively enhance technical knowledge, remain abreast of evolving technologies and build a professional reputation through presentations, publications, and public involvement in a technical discipline.

Minimum Requirements

Master's Degree in Hydrogeology or Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering

Experiences with water resources models, including but not limited to MODFLOW.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PHD Degree in Environmental engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Hydrogeology or closely related field

  • Software Experience including ArcGIS, AQTESOLV, GFLOW, Earth Volumetric Studio, Leapfrog, Groundwater Vistas, FEFLOW, and GMS

  • Experiences with water resources models are preferred including, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, EPA BASINS, SRH-2D, MODFLOW, etc.

  • Experience in geological investigations, hydrogeologic applications, statistical analysis of hydrogeologic data, well design, rehabilitations and installations, well-field design, analytical and numerical groundwater flow, and transport analyses and modeling

  • Experience with aquifer test design and analysis

  • Experience with the development of hydrogeological conceptual models

  • Strong writing and communication skills
