What You'll Do Here:
The chosen candidate would be an experienced executive drawing on his/her multi-disciplinary experiences and extensive exposure to international operations. An autonomous self-starter, the role will require the candidate to acquire an in-depth knowledge and understanding of both the industry and the organization, specifically the long-term strategic objectives of all stakeholders, and working closely with the International executive management team, develop and implement the strategic plan - considering the unique attributes of the international markets. This position is a consultative role, part leader and part doer, and will suit a candidate with proven problem-solving skills.
This position will have the following broad responsibilities:
Establish, or interpret and understand, key strategic priorities translating them into a comprehensive and communicable strategic plan
Translate strategic plans into discrete actionable and quantifiable plans
Mobilize and manage teams of contributors – often global - charged with executing plan
Monitor and ‘course-correct’ the execution of individual strategic plans
Engage with and be responsive to corporate strategy office requirements including, but not limited to, BOD presentation requirements, strategic plan discussions and presentations, etc.
Partner with International executive team to develop strategies to implement digital business transformation
2. Business Development
Respond to deteriorating performance trends by performing root cause analysis, determining remedial plan(s) and driving to completion any tactical corrective actions
Proactively identify business development opportunities aligned to strategic objectives, e.g., M&A, new product development or existing product enhancements, value chain extension, etc. and develop proposals for approval, implementation and execution to completion
Engage with and be responsive to corporate business development initiatives, including due diligence activities, contingency planning, scenario analyses, etc.
As a key interface between stakeholders and with a limited core international infrastructure, it will be necessary to analyze, problem solve and drive to resolution numerous operational issues from ‘Go-To-Market’ challenges in region to process and system impediments
Engage with and be responsive to corporate and regional business demands and requirements
4. Special Projects
- Lead and/or facilitate special projects on an ad-hoc basis reporting directly to the EVP, President of International and engaging with contributors, subject matter experts and stakeholders both internal and external – around the world
Skills You Will Need Here:
5-10+ years relevant experience
Management of, or direct exposure to, international operations
Good communication and presentation skills
Independent, but with ability to work in a virtual (dispersed) team environment
Business transformation experience, ideally in digital content
Ability to operate effectively and efficiently under time pressures and deadlines
Management Consulting experience strongly preferred
Software, Information Services and/or Publishing industry experience
