Slack is looking for a very hardworking, creative, data-driven, and passionate individual who can help identify and measure the value our largest paid customers create when using Slack to transform the way they work. You will be a core member of our Value Insights & Analytics (VIA) team, which helps our customers quantify the impact their investment in Slack has on their company’s performance and identify new and better ways to bring value.

As a VIA Consultant, you will work closely with our Value Consulting, Customer Success, Sales, Analytics, Product, and Product Marketing teams, focusing on our most strategic customer accounts. You will conduct discovery calls with account teams and customers, design metrics and insights for the team to test, and package and deliver results to customer decision makers. You’ll build a deep understanding of our customers’ businesses and value drivers established during the sales process, and work with them to develop insights using a combination of usage data, qualitative understanding of our customers’ businesses, and value drivers established in the pre-sales process to build compelling justifications for customers to use Slack as their collaboration platform of choice. Your work will feed analytics and data science teams across Slack as we strive to make work simpler, more pleasant, and more productive for all our customers.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with our customers, Sales, Customer Success, and Value Consulting teams to identify, prioritize, and quantify key business drivers and understand how Slack will help customers meet their strategic objectives

  • Build strong trust-based relationships with both internal key collaborators and select external customers, applying expertise and knowledge of VIA work to become an inspiring leader and trusted partner

  • Identify target operational and financial metrics impacted by adopting Slack to develop models to quantify the strategic value of Slack

  • Develop a deep understanding of how our customers use and collaborate on Slack across different functions and industries, providing key insights back to C-level executives at our customers to help them understand how Slack is transforming the way they work

  • Design and run experiments on new metrics and synthetic scores, triage and prioritize areas for future development, and communicate initial findings to data science teams to help them refine and productize the final results

  • Work hand-in-hand with VIA data scientists and engineers to develop scalable value metrics, insights, analyses, and processes to help our Sales & Customer Success teams discuss the value of Slack with our customers

  • Conduct and facilitate internal and external research and discovery around customer business processes, market trends, and business value analysis, and synthesize the results into practical methods and priorities for the team

  • Craft and maintain library of reusable assets to help spread Slack’s value narrative to a broad set of customers, including spreadsheets, calculators, visualizations, dashboards, presentation templates, case studies, and customer stories

Required Skills :

  • BA/BS degree from a top university in a quantitative field (e.g. Business, Finance, Economics, Math, Statistics, Engineering, or related areas) or equivalent relevant experience required. An advanced degree (MBA, MS in a quantitative field) is a plus. Experience will be evaluated based on the core proficiencies for the role (e.g. extracurricular leadership roles, military experience, volunteer roles, work experience, etc.)

  • Demonstrated relevant experience, ideally in Finance, Strategy Consulting, or other analytical roles in a professional services environment

  • Experience delivering internal or external facing presentations, especially to executive audiences

  • Experience conducting discovery calls and designing requirements, especially for technical and/or analytic products

  • Experience in leading fast-paced analytics projects from inception to delivery, including developing structured solutions and communicating complex results to non-technical sponsors

  • A self-starter who takes initiative, is creative, has high energy, and thrives in a fast-paced software company

  • Excellent quantitative analysis and financial modeling skills, with expertise in SQL and spreadsheet software (GSheet or Excel). Knowledge of at least one programming language for data analysis (e.g. Python, R) is a plus.

  • Experience in a sales and/or customer success environment a plus

  • Interest in the technology/software/SaaS space and passion for learning
