Amazon Strategic Planning & Execution Senior Manager in Boston, Massachusetts

Amazon Web Services (AWS), a subsidiary of Amazon.com and a leader in cloud computing, is seeking an exceptional and proactive strategic planning and execution leader to join our dynamic marketing organization. This role is responsible for leveraging market research, analytics, and insights to develop, align, and oversee the execution of strategic plans that support the company's overall vision, goals, and objectives. The successful candidate will establish and maintain effective cross-organizational relationships to produce strategic plans with stakeholder buy-in, fostering organizational success.

As a senior leader you will act as a primary contact to support AWS's marketing investment decisions, crafting the narrative to define the AWS business strategy, collaborating closely with program owners, finance, analytics teams, sales, product, servicing, customer research, strategy, and operations teams. You will make data-driven recommendations on investment decisions and drive organizational clarity on what's working effectively for our business and marketing portfolio. You will participate in and lead strategy sessions with our business partners, offering insights to inform strategic decision-making.

The ideal candidate thrives on diving deep into complex and ambiguous problems, making compelling, data-based, and logical arguments with strong judgment. Excellent communication skills, the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment are essential. You must demonstrate a hypothesis-driven, problem-solving orientation, the ability to support a thesis with quantitative and qualitative analysis, a high degree of business judgment, and the capability to frame unstructured, complex business problems effectively.

This leader must demonstrate a high level of judgment and the ability to influence higher levels of management.

Key job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

-Strategic Planning: Collaborate with cross functional teams and senior leadership to develop and implement comprehensive strategic plans that support the organization's long-term growth and profitability.

-Review and define the need for market research, competitive analysis, and customer insights gathering to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and potential threats, incorporating these insights into strategic planning initiatives.

-Develop trade-off / prioritization framework to ensure planned investments are aligned with business opportunity prioritization.

Operational Plan Definition & Refinement:

-Develop, socialize and refine operational planning strategy documents to articulate AWS Marketing strategy and investment roadmap.

Innovation and Culture:

-Support ethnographic, design thinking, competition based strategy development to inform business strategies with cross-functional team and external third part innovation techniques while enhancing company culture and talent development.

Basic Qualifications

  • 9+ years of professional non-internship marketing experience

  • Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements

  • Experience building, executing and scaling cross-functional marketing programs

  • Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams

  • Proven expertise in commissioning and translating market research, competitive analysis, and customer insights into actionable business strategies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working cross-functionally with partner teams to drive adoption and usage of brand assets and messaging

  • Experience in strategic marketing management and market analysis and demonstrated ability to build and execute a strategy with clear goals and objectives to align to business and service objectives, and support portfolio objectives

  • Experience assessing portfolio opportunity to make the appropriate long term strategic investments while maintaining the short-term delivery of leads

  • Experience communicating results to senior leadership

  • Experience leading matrixed virtual teams that create and execute strategic programs

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $113,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
