The Role
We are seeking an Executive Director, Consumer Revenue & Marketing to lead our subscription business, drive lead generation, and elevate product marketing initiatives to ensure sustained and impactful growth.
The Executive Director of Consumer Revenue & Marketing will be responsible for leading STAT’s subscription growth strategy, from acquiring new subscribers to ensuring high retention rates. This role will focus on optimizing lead generation, managing subscription funnels, developing data-driven marketing campaigns, and testing new growth levers. You will lead a cross-functional marketing team and work closely with editorial, product, design, sales, Enterprise, and data teams to support STAT’s growth and impact.
What You’ll Do :
- Subscription Growth & Testing
Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy to increase subscription revenue, with a focus on net-new growth and retention.
Lead subscription funnel optimization efforts, continuously testing pricing, offers, and product positioning. Collaborate with the enterprise subscription team to support growth of group/enterprise subs through upselling individual subs, and direct marketing group subscription offers.
- Lead Generation & Conversion
Drive lead generation strategies that maximize conversion rates and build a robust subscriber base.
Oversee the implementation of lead-nurturing tactics, including personalized content, email marketing, and targeted campaigns, ensuring qualified leads are effectively converted to subscribers.
Collaborate with editorial and marketing teams to leverage STAT’s content to capture new audiences and scale STAT’s editorial newsletter business.
- Product Marketing
Lead the marketing strategy for STAT’s product offerings, including STAT+ subscriptions, premium reports, and events.
Collaborate with product and design teams to design and refine marketing collateral, subscription plans, and value propositions that speak directly to STAT’s core audience.
- Data & Analytics
Leverage data and analytics to make informed marketing decisions and track key performance indicators (KPIs), including Customer Lifetime Value (CLV), Average Revenue Per User (ARPU), churn rates, and conversion metrics. Partner with data teams to gather and analyze customer insights that guide audience segmentation, retention strategies, and personalization efforts.
- Paid Media & Performance Marketing
Oversee STAT’s paid media operations, working with internal teams and external agencies to drive traffic and conversions through channels such as social media, search, display ads, and partnerships.
Who You Are
7+ years of experience in subscription marketing, growth marketing, or digital media marketing.
Proven track record of successfully driving subscription or membership growth in a digital media environment.
Strong understanding of A/B testing, lead generation tactics, and data-driven marketing strategies.
Experience managing paid media campaigns across multiple channels.
Analytical mindset, with the ability to turn data into actionable marketing strategies.
Leadership experience, including managing teams and cross-functional collaboration.
Excellent communication and project management skills.
Compensation/Location
The minimum salary for this position is $100,000. We offer a competitive benefits package, including health insurance, a 401k plan, generous vacation, parental leave, and more. We also have numerous wellness offerings, including free access to HeadSpace for all full-time employees.
The STAT office is located in downtown Boston, nearby Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, and is easily accessible by MBTA and commuter rail lines. We have colleagues in the organization that come into the office on a regular basis and colleagues that are based in various cities throughout the U.S. For this role, we will consider candidates who are based anywhere in the United States.
