Job Description Summary

In this role, you’ll shape and deliver integrated internal and external communication strategies and initiatives that help to achieve business outcomes. The role also focuses on amplifying our mission, purpose, strategy and culture to make Travelers a destination for technology and operations talent.
Reporting to the Head of Technology & Operations Communications, the role may require formally or informally leading resources, as well as external partners. Additionally, it requires strong collaboration with members of Travelers communication community.
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Create and execute complex internal and external integrated strategic communication plans that directly advance Technology & Operations strategic outcomes and priorities, while reinforcing Travelers culture and character. Apply change management practices to enable transformation.
Develop and edit compelling content and leverage storytelling. Create executive messages that inspires and engages audiences, promotes a greater sense of community and builds a high-performing organization.
Strengthen leadership communication capabilities through strategic counsel, engagement strategies, tools and resources.
Leverage diverse communication channels, including social media, interactive events and digital experiences to achieve maximum impact.
Develop creative concepts and partner with multi-media resources to execute effectively.
Help to strengthen the employer brand through external awards, industry conferences, social media, media relations and executive visibility strategies. Support communications with external strategic partners to create pipeline of talent.
Cultivate strong partnerships with leaders and colleagues across the company, including collaborating with Corporate Communications for media relations, social media and brand.
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of technology and operations business strategies and build them into communications approaches and content.
Provide input into the development of internal communications best practices and ensure practices are implemented across the team.
Ensure that enterprise approval processes, templates and brand guidelines are followed in the development of communications. May recommends guidelines to leaders.
Measure communication effectiveness through qualitative and quantitative methods. Leverage insights to continuously improve and adjust approaches.
Share business and communications subject matter expertise with other team members; mentors/trains others on the development of communications and communications strategies. Stay current with emerging trends.
Lead others formally/informally to develop their expertise as business partners, trusted advisors and strategic communicators.
Ensure that communications efforts are legally compliant and cost-effective.
Identify risks, issues, and challenges and recommend solutions.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in in English, journalism, communications or minimum of 7 years of related communications experience.
Minimum of 2 years of management experience.
Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge
Typically has 8+ years of experience in corporate communications or a related field.
Thorough knowledge of all contemporary communications techniques.
Thorough understanding of business strategies.
