Senior Communications Strategist
Overview: You will support the Bank's activities in public relations, organizational communications, media relations, and external affairs. Reporting to the Communications Strategy Manager, the Senior Communications Strategist uses a variety of communications skills, competencies, and tools to support efforts to inform and educate multiple audiences about the work of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and promote its reputation for public service, and to keep Bank employees informed and engaged.
You work with members of the Communications team to provide tactical communications assistance to many parties in the Bank.
Principal Accountabilities: •Develop relationships with experts from around the Bank to identify and share the organization’s compelling ‘stories’ at the Boston Fed’s website, intranet, and social media channels. •Work with partners to determine communications strategies to promote visibility, distribution, absorption, and coverage of Boston Fed output and programs. •Propose creative solutions to communications challenges for range of all audiences, ensuring understanding of the Bank’s strategic objectives. Use analytics and data to develop and implement strategy. •Coordinate with cross-disciplinary Corporate Communications colleagues to achieve the most comprehensive results possible. •Engage people around the Bank in the practice of good communications and in advancing the Bank's reputation. Proactively stay informed about Bank issues and developments. •Represent the Bank and the communications function in different settings inside and outside the Bank including participation in Federal Reserve System groups. * Management:* You will not be asked to manage others, but you may provide direction to junior team members.
*Qualifications: * •Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related discipline, and 5 years of related work experience. •Meticulousness with the details. Journalistic instincts and prior news writing experience highly valued. Requires excellent writing, editing, verbal, organizational, and analytical skills. Capability to simplify and distill complex topics. •Can handle the demands of sensitive and sometimes urgent communications in a complex organization. •Initiator who is experienced handling several projects simultaneously; must be comfortable working individually and on teams. Also can work with individuals at different levels in an organization. •Experienced with Microsoft applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, •Experienced using website content management tools. •Have experience with a variety of social media channels. •Have understanding of and interest in community development, economics, and financial matters including payments. •Excellent interpersonal skills, attitude, and collegiality; a desire to contribute and grow professionally.
