Purpose/Objective :

The Senior Associate, Capital & Liquidity is responsible for assisting with the development, enhancement, execution, and documentation of the Company’s capital & liquidity planning processes, including capital & liquidity reporting, computational models related to periodic liquidity stress testing, capital projections, and capital & liquidity planning. This position is expected to work closely with other members of the Capital, Liquidity, and Stress Testing group, as well as other members of the Finance and Risk Management divisions.

Responsibilities include maintaining accurate and ongoing forecasts that integrate multi-departmental inputs, assumptions, and projections into the Company’s enterprise-wide forecasting and risk monitoring systems; monitoring capital and liquidity levels and requirements of the Company and subsidiaries; assessing the impact of balance sheet and earnings activities on the Company’s level of capital and liquidity adequacy; capital ratio attribution analysis considering regulatory and management capital limits and thresholds; and creating and applying liquidity and capital stress testing analytics and methodologies within the guidelines and expectations of State and Federal regulatory agencies.

The Senior Associate, Capital & Liquidity will also contribute to key strategic activities of the Bank, including profitability & strategic analytics and budgeting & forecasting, and may support other treasury as needed disciplines including Asset/Liability Management and Investment Management with the opportunity to broaden treasury experience across disciplines over time

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assist with daily/monthly/quarterly Capital Management & Liquidity Management activities: 40%

  • Prepare and perform calculations for capital and liquidity forecasts and reports to manage capital and liquidity risk positions

  • Perform analyses related to capital model and liquidity model inputs, and documentation thereof

  • Perform testing of projections vs. actuals, and recalibrating model inputs as necessary

  • Develop policies and procedures related to capital and liquidity management

  • Assist with the management of assembly, compilation, and development of data sources used in capital and liquidity modeling

  • Analyze products and services that impact capital and liquidity risk and determine/develop strategies to help measure and mitigate that risk

  • Assist with the development of the Bank’s annual Liquidity & Capital plans and work with other members of finance to develop efficient execution strategies. Prepare presentations for Management and the Board of Directors regarding the plans, projections, and strategies: 30%

  • Assist with the development and execution of the Bank’s Capital and Liquidity Stress Testing programs: 30%

  • Develop policies and procedures to document stress testing goals, objectives, and operating activities

  • Assist with model development process for stress testing. Work with risk management to ensure models comply with model risk management and validation expectations. Ensure timely remediation of recommendations for improvement from oversight partners and regulators

  • Analyze stress test results and complete required templates and reporting. Ensure that results are documented and well understood by executive management and regulators, including the review of all incorporated key assumptions

  • Work with other areas of the Bank to ensure that the data being collected and utilized in the stress testing program is sufficient and accurate.

  • Ensures compliance with all banking laws, rules, regulations, and prescribed policies/practices/procedures necessary to reduce risk and uphold ethical standards related to and required by one’s duties.

    Education :

  • Bachelor’s in business, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, or other related fields of study

    Experience :

  • 0-4+ years experience in the financial services industry in risk management or finance

  • Preferred experience with capital and/or liquidity management at a financial institution

    Skills & Knowledge :

  • An understanding of banking and key risk drivers

  • Familiarity with risk management concepts and principals

  • Understanding of financial markets, interest rates, and impact of current economic & political events on financial decision making

  • Experience with balance sheet and P&L development

  • Demonstrated ability for problem-solving, independent work, and attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with the various teams (e.g., risk, finance, analytics, technology)

  • Strong spreadsheet application skills, including Microsoft Excel

  • Solid analytical skills
