Candidates can also be based in Providence, RI or Raynham, MA. Please note, we currently have an interim/satellite location in Mansfield, MA and candidates may be eligible to work out of this location.

The Digital Orthopedic Surgery team is bringing innovation to intraoperative patient care. We are using robotics and digital tools for surgical teams to improve patient outcomes. We are creating an extensible operating room ecosystem to support existing devices and those of the future. The Senior R&D Software Engineer for Automation and Quality plays a senior developer role on a cross-functional team to deliver production medical systems. This position has an additional focus on C++ based testing automation and continuous integration.
Senior R&D Software Engineer (QA Automation), Digital Surgery position will:
Write high-quality code for medical device applications.
Work closely with Product Owner and other teams to develop complex algorithms.
Work on UI/UX code and back-end integrations.
Troubleshoot and debug software issues.
Develop testing automation for C++ software builds in a continuous integration pipeline.
Profile and analyzing application performance.
Involve in problem solving discussions to the benefit the end-user/client.
Follow Agile/Scrum methodologies to deliver faster and stronger products to the clients.
Use tools for Agile development like Jira, Confluence or others that assist day to day delivery.
Act as a coach and mentor for more junior team members.
Follow company (corporate & security) policies and guidelines.
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field is required. A Master’s Degree in Computer Science is a plus.
A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience is required (Advanced graduate degrees can be counted towards overall experience).
Previous experience in a highly regulated industry is strongly preferred.
Experience with Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) and IEC 62304 is strongly preferred.
Significant experience in C++ programming is required.
Experience with C, C#, Java and Python is preferred.
Experience with C++ unit testing automation is required.
Experience with continuous integration tools such as Jenkins, TeamCity, or Travis CI is required.
Experience with static analysis tools like Parasoft or an equivalent is preferred
Knowledge of a unit testing library like cppTest, QTest, or GoogleTest is required. Of these, GoogleTest is preferred.
Completion of projects or courses focused on software data structures and algorithms; experience using algorithms and data structures to solve problems; and interpreting algorithms and contributing ideas to their development are required.
Experience developing thorough testing solutions across testing units/functions is required.
Effective verbal and written communication skills required.
Must be self-directed, highly organized and adaptable.
This position will be located in Boston, MA. Candidates can also be based in Providence, RI or Raynham, MA. Please note, we currently have an interim/satellite location in Mansfield, MA and candidates may be eligible to work out of this location.
This position may also require up to 20% international and domestic travel.
