Genesis AEC Senior Project Manager in Boston, Massachusetts

What You Will Do:

The Senior Project Manager provides leadership on project assignments and is responsible for the full performance of every phase of a project, including planning, directing, supervising, and controlling all technical, fiscal and administrative functions. The Senior Project Manager may supervise one or more lower level PM’s, Assistant PMs (APMs), Project Engineers (PEs), or the entire project technical team. This position is client facing with an emphasis on ensuring design, schedule, cost, scope, quality, and safety.

The Senior Project Manager will strive to improve and increase client relationships. The successful candidate MUST have a strong Design discipline background along with experience executing engineering/design projects in the Life Sciences industries.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for executing large and/or multiple projects, on time, within budget and to agreed specifications as well as providing effective, skilled project management to help reduce the costs of delivering projects while adding value to the business by applying proven project management techniques in an effort to maintain corporate initiatives to assist in achieving the company's goals.

  • Functions as a team lead for projects including acting as the liaison to internal departments as needed.

  • Assesses project requirements, while developing and recommending a sound approach or application to meet the needs of the project and client.

  • Ensures that project deliverables satisfy project requirements

  • Facilitates the creation of communication plans, ensuring that appropriate information is exchanged among key stakeholders, and conducts status review meetings among project team members and clients.

  • Attends pre-bid meetings with clients and prepares proposals in conjunction with department heads, directors and other key individuals; actively assists in Design budget development.

  • Manages client interaction on assigned projects and promotes positive relationships.

  • Identifies risks to project and corporation and works with Project Executives and Director(s) to mitigate risks.

  • Determines, monitors and reviews costs, operational budgets, schedules and staffing requirements for project teams; Establishes appropriate metrics for measuring key project criteria. Prepares internal monthly financial/schedule reports for the Senior Leadership Team for each project.

  • Responsible for project scope control and development/communication of all change control to the client.

  • Develops and maintains meeting minutes and Action Items/Needs List for each project.

  • Develops and Maintains Project Execution Plan.

  • Responsible for management of all sub-consultants on the project.

  • Maintains personal competency in relevant professional areas.

  • Develops and maintains long-term industry relationships including client relationship and account development.

  • Assists in identifying and developing innovative methods for improving project management processes and techniques against current SOPs.

  • Strives for continuous improvement in all internal processes.

  • Mentors and trains clients, vendors, and team members in project management methods, procedures and activities

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications & Requirements

  • 15 years of experience as a Project Manager in an Engineering, Environmental, Construction, or a project related technical field organization is preferred.

  • Analytical thinking, structured problem solving skills, excellent communications skills, team building and strong work ethic. Must be able to build report with project staff.

  • MUST have a strong Architectural Design or Engineering discipline background along with experience running engineering/design projects in the Pharmaceutical, Biotech or Nutraceutical industries. Professional Registration (P.E.) or Registered Architect (RA) is desired.

  • Project Management Institute – PMP certification preferred.

  • Progressive ability, capacity, and aptitude in administration to plan, organize, supervise and coordinate technical work and to obtain cooperation from others.

  • High level of scheduling skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Skilled in the use of IT tools, including spreadsheets, word processing, planning and scheduling software.

  • Understanding of Earned Value and other project controls methods.

  • Promotes Safety and adheres to Genesis and client Safety policies.
