Our Catalyst Technologies engineering team is at the heart of these efforts.

Your role as a Senior Process Engineer in Johnson Matthey may involve early-stage proposals design, preparing process design packages through to supporting our customers in starting up and optimizing their plants, as well as process improvement and R&D for the next generation of technologies. You will work within our passionate expert team to solve some of the biggest challenges facing the world today and you will have the opportunity to turn your ideas into pioneering global projects .

Catalyst Technologies (CT) is a market leader in the syngas value chain. It develops and supplies high-value, specialty process technology and catalysts for chemicals and fuels processing to enable our customers to operate efficiently, profitably and sustainably. With CT at the forefront of the transition to sustainable chemicals and fuels, the transition to net zero is creating exciting new opportunities in this sector.

Provide engineering support in order to identify and develop industry leading technology and catalysts; supporting opportunity evaluation, external projects and technology development activities with US focus.

Your responsibilities:

Carry out process engineering activities, following JM standards and procedures to schedule and budget as advised by the Lead Engineer / Technology Manager / Project Manager

Conduct technical evaluation of opportunities and take responsibility for accurate calculations

Develop process simulations where needed

Work with external project partners, including to evaluate data, develop flowsheets and technology as needed by the project.

Keep up to date with relevant patents and literature

Work with R+D, innovation and commercial teams within JM as needed for each project

Take a proactive approach to personal & professional development

Identify department/business improvement opportunities to enhance the departmental offering

Broaden technical and commercial understanding of JM technologies

Achieve/Maintain charter status of recognised engineered body

Ensure JM health, safety, environmental and quality procedures are followed and that a high standard of safety is achieved in all associated work

Requirements for the role:

Degree / PhD in Chemical Engineering

Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience

Proven process engineering design experience with technical safety and environmental aspects

Proficient in use of Engineering Software, e.g., Hysys, ProII, Aspen+
