Senior Manager, Strategy and Planning - Service Provider and Edge BU – Opportunity for Working Remotely

VMware’s Service Provider and Edge Business Unit (SEBU) helps our customers (‘Telcos/Cable Companies’) adopt virtualization and cloud technologies to transform their core network and become providers of rich 5G services. VMware enables our customers to modernize their networks with highly automated, cloud-native infrastructure and to monetize their network by selling enterprise services. With a proven track record in cloud technologies, VMware is ideally placed to support Service Providers’ digital transformation.

VMware is seeking a Senior Manager, Strategy and Planning, in the Service Provider and Edge Business Unit (SEBU). The Senior Manager reports directly to the Senior Director of Strategy, Planning & Operations, and will be responsible for driving strategy and execution alignment for the business unit.

The ideal candidate will be someone who has spent time in roles such as strategic planning or management consulting, that has a strong understanding of strategy and technology. He/She has proven communication skills and the ability to collaborate with/influence cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Senior Director Strategy, Planning & Operations, on strategy development to identify, align, and implement strategic goals

  • Develop strategy and business plans to capitalize on current/future market trends

  • Conduct competitive analysis for new markets and technology areas

  • Analyze new market entry opportunities, including market sizing and go-to-market strategy

  • Evaluate strategic partnership opportunities and support partnership negotiations

  • Lead initiatives to translate SEBU strategy into operational plans

  • Work with senior executives on a wide range of business critical and strategic issues

  • Develop senior executive communication materials for internal and external audiences

  • Bring hypothesis-driven problem solving to ambiguous questions, crisply framing potential solutions and tradeoffs

  • Provide direction and support for cross-functional projects and activities that span multiple organizations

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years post-MBA experience at a top management consulting firm e.g. Sr. Associate, Project Leader, Case Team Leader) or equivalent corporate strategy, corporate finance, or product management, function

  • Experience in Telco and/or IT industry required (either through consulting or past work experience)

  • Top-tier undergraduate & MBA credentials

  • Strong communications skills and presence to engage with senior executives

  • Strong analytical skills to develop insights into complex business issues

  • Strong track record of outstanding performance with increasing levels of responsibility
