Core Responsibilities

1. Drive our social responsibility work in Mass achusetts and Connecticut.

  • Develop and execute a Boston social impact strategy that meets the needs of children, is synergistic with Sustainability 2025 plans,connects withLEGO Foundation assets, andprovidesexciting opportunities for employee engagement. We are looking to make our first big investment aligned with our teams transitioning to Boston in 2025.

  • Support the transition from Enfield, CT by workingtogetherwith existing charity partnersin Connecticut and Western Massachusettsto build theircapacityand ensure their impactful programs and initiatives may continueto meet the needs of children. This will involvein-person engagement in Enfield, CT through 2025.

  • Manage the LEGO Community Foundation US , astand-alone501c3 organization. This includes management of the board of trustees (overseeing bi-monthly board meetings, setting agendas, driving approvals, preppingchairand documenting meetings) and ensuring full fiscal compliance with LEGO Group, US 501c3 requirements/IRS regulations and accounting principles.

  • Drive funding process: design RFP (requests for proposal) processes aligned with strategy andobjectives, define decision making rubric, implement partnership agreements/payments, administration and more.

  • Manage internal and external communication s including fielding unsolicited inquiries from employees and nonprofits, managing press releases requested by grantees andrepresentingthe company at events.

  • Manage special funding initiatives as raised by EVP.

  1. Be an integral part of Employee Play Engagement at LEGO Americas sites to raise the visibility, understanding and engagement in play and learning through play at work, at home and in the community via robust volunteering with community partners.
  • Play Agent: Train to be a play agent hero – empowered to deliver introductory workshops to groups of employees as well as partners.

  • Support the Employee Play Engagement Manager with plans and execution. Ensure team is advised of nonprofit partners andpartnerclosely on volunteering plan.

  1. Provide informal leadership to the Social Responsibility Manager USA : insuringteamis aligned, aware ofeach other’swork and working collaboratively.

  2. Provide philanthropic best-practice expertise to internal teams across theAmericasbusiness, ensuring charitable partnerships are vetted, adjusted if necessary and aligned with policies.

In the US, our Local Community Engagement work has focused in the areas around our Enfield Hub, BostonHuband Los Angeles officesand our Social Responsibility programs now are active in all 50 states via national programs including Prescription for Play, Build the Change, Build to Giveand LEGO Playful Learning Museum Network.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Philanthropy (grant making) or corporate charitable givingexperience

  • Demonstrated experience designingand executingcomplexstrategies

  • Experience working with or knowledge of the Boston, MA nonprofit sector

  • Experience managing trustees or similar type ofboards

  • Excellent communicator - verbal andwritten

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent experience

  • Proven experience working in teams and a truecollaborator

  • Experience managing budgets of >$2MUSD

  • Entrepreneurial and strategic approach – not needing a playbook but can unpack challenges and createyour own path

  • Passion for children and play

New Location Update

The current work location for this role is 501 Boylston Street, Boston, MA. In 2025, we will transition to our new permanent office location at 1001 Boylston Street, Boston, MA. Specific move dates for roles are to bedeterminedand communicated in 2024.
