Senior Consultants are integral members of our Life Sciences practice and contribute to all levels of the consulting process. Life Sciences Senior Consultants are responsible for the day-to-day leading of consulting workstreams and have frequent interactions with clients. Your specific responsibilities include: analyzing scientific, clinical, financial and strategic information to discern the business implications of new technologies and emerging trends; conducting primary research interviews with clinicians, thought leaders, and executives in the industry and related fields; managing and mentoring junior staff; and preparing and delivering presentations to clients and senior practice leaders. Travel is project dependent but averages 20 percent, with the majority of time working from one’s local Guidehouse office.

The Life Sciences practice encourages career development and hiring for the long term. Senior Consultants follow a clearly defined career path and continue to deepen their knowledge in the field of healthcare and the practice of consulting. As Senior Consultants hone their project management skills and ability to manage multiple work streams, they progress to the position of Managing Consultant.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in science, biomedical engineering, healthcare, business, decision sciences or related course of study with strong record of academic success.

  • Advanced degree/PhD or at least 2 years of life sciences industry (pharmaceutical, biotech, medical technology) or consulting experience.

  • Ability to work independently but with internal oversight. Experience in managing components of projects, ownership of workstreams and/or analytics and supervising, coaching or mentoring others in daily tasks.

  • Strong analytical skills (Excel, Access, etc.) preferred to use data to guide client and team decision-making.

  • Advanced data collection, research, information finding experience and explore solutions that challenge critical thinking.

  • Demonstrated commitment and passion for the healthcare and life science industries.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to produce client-ready deliverables including PowerPoint presentations.

  • An ability to grasp and communicate clinical and business implications of scientifically complex products.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to review work products of oneself and others.

  • Collaborative and team player.

  • Willingness and ability to travel to client sites across the US, up to 80% of the time for a particular engagement but for the majority of engagements expected to be approximately 20% of the time.

  • Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
