Job Description

The opportunity

Seeking a dynamic senior analyst to take on challenging financial, accounting, and economic analyses in a supportive work environment. Responsibilities include conducting portfolio reporting, detailed calculations, and custodian reconciliations under general supervision. Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review portfolio reporting for Form N-PORT, annual and semiannual shareholder reports, and other SEC and shareholder reporting requirements, including Form N-CSR, Form N-MFP and Form N-CEN.

  • Responsible for reconciling custodian bank reports and related audit packages to relevant John Hancock funds’ portfolio holdings. Communicate and resolve discrepancies as necessary.

  • Coordinate and review the flow of information vital to complete Form N-PORT and shareholder reporting, including equity, fixed-income and derivative reporting requirements. Requires interaction with internal John Hancock Groups (Fund Administration, Legal, Investment Operations, etc.) to ensure the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of information included.

  • Participate in departmental initiatives, including the annual review and maintenance of policies and procedures, reporting checklists and other projects.

  • Assists directors, managers and other team members on various projects and analyses.

What we are looking for

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent work experience

• 3-4 years of experience in mutual fund industry

• Understanding of US GAAP and SEC regulations governing mutual funds and investment companies

• Experience with Fundsuite ArcReporting and ArcFiling preferred

• Strong written and oral communication skills

• Thorough, well-organized, and excellent analytical skills

• Self-starter and teammate with a high level of initiative, strong work ethic and the ability to gather, synthesize, organize and report information

• Ability to multi-task and manage priorities in a demanding and deadline-oriented environment

• Skilled in Microsoft Office applications

• Demonstrates a solid understanding of accounting rules, regulatory rules and/or business processes

• Demonstrates emerging to solid proficiency in own discipline; still acquiring higher-level knowledge and skills

• Demonstrates emerging ability to draft managerial reporting narratives

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location

Boston, Massachusetts

Salary range is expected to be between

$68,475.00 USD - $114,125.00 USD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
