Job Description
Seeking a dynamic, team-oriented Research Program Manager who will work under the direction of Dr. Kazis. The Research Program Manager will manage a variety of research activities related to several research projects on patient-reported outcomes. The Research Manager will manage day-to-day operations and have a direct supervisory role of one or more research assistants. Research operations include draft and maintain research compliance and update IRB protocols as needed, leading and planning project meetings, preparing and reviewing relevant literature, and writing reports, manuscripts, and presentations. They will work with stakeholders and maintain an open communication with members of MGH, Private Foundations and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in addition to local and national clinicians and researchers. Additionally, they will direct and lead the dissemination objectives of a number of projects. The position will include oversite and coordination for qualitative work to be conducted for a number of focus groups that will include patients and clinicians. The focus group work will involve direct lines of supervision overseeing the research assistant(s). The position will offer opportunities for developing skills in research and metric development related to disability, burn injuries, and musculoskeletal conditions. Some projects specifically include those with chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia and post treatment Lyme disease that will be the emphasis for some of the focus groups. In addition, there are projects involving large databases that span a number of different chronic conditions. This position will start immediately.
Essential Functions:
Manage day-to-day operations and have direct supervisory lines of responsibility overseeing the research assistant(s). Research operations include draft and maintain research compliance and update IRB protocols as needed, leading and planning project meetings, preparing and reviewing relevant literature, and writing reports, manuscripts, and presentations. (50%)
Work with stakeholders and maintain an open communication with members of MGH, Private Foundations and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in addition to local and national clinicians and researchers (25%)
Direct the dissemination objectives of a number of projects. The position will include oversite and coordination for qualitative work with direct supervisory responsibility for one or more research assistants for the conduct of a number of focus groups that will include patients and clinicians (25%).
Required Skills
The individual should have both quantitative and qualitative experience with a masters-level degree and 8 years of research experience. Clinical/Research experience is strongly preferred as well as prior experience organizing and conducting focus groups is necessary. Advanced qualitative and quantitative skills are required. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, EndNote, and scientific writing preferred. Applicants must be highly motivated and organized.
