Boston University RESEARCH FELLOW, School of Public Health, Health Policy and Management in Boston, Massachusetts

Health and social policies shape population health and health equity in all times, and especially at a time of increased vulnerability to infectious disease, mental distress, and financial instability due to COVID-19. Dr. Julia Raifman is looking for a full time (40 hours/week) Research Fellow to lead a team of 20 students in developing the COVID-19 State Policy Database ( and policy research stemming from the database. The Research Fellow will also contribute to research on PrEP implementation to prevent HIV among men who have sex with men and research on adolescent parental consent policies for sexual health care. The Research Fellow will have the opportunity to develop their own papers and grants on these topics and be encouraged to engage in professional development. The Research Fellow will have weekly check-in meetings with Dr. Raifman as well as attending a monthly seminar.

Applicants should be detail oriented, have strong scientific writing skills, and be interested in a research career. Dr. Raifman’s research is focused on equity. Required Skills

Qualifications:• Excellent scientific writing skills• A history of scientific publications is desirable • Self-motivated and committed to public health research• Strong interpersonal skills• High level of professionalism and attention to detail• Experience in project management• Master’s degree in health policy or economics preferred; applicants with PhD will be considered• Familiarity with econometric methods of policy analysis, such as difference-in-differences methods, is a plus• Familiarity with STATA or SAS• Ability to manage time well; punctual
