Wellforce Research Associate I - Lab in Boston, Massachusetts
This position reports to the Principal Investigator and is responsible for independently developing protocols and establishing new methodologies in the laboratory.
We are humanizing murine monoclonal antibodies that target human immunoglobulin free light chains in circulation. The experimental work with these humanized monoclonals (huALM-1 targets human λ and huAKM-1 human κ light chains) involves (1) immunoprecipitation with patients and mouse model sera followed by immunoblotting of the denatured proteins in the complexes that have been pulled down; (2) dose-finding studies in xenograft mouse models with circulating human light chains; and (3) epitope mapping with target oligos from human light chain constant regions.
Work as part of one or more project teams, and remain proficient in designing, managing and performing experiments.
Collect and analyze data, and deliver experimental research reports when necessary with guidance from thePIs for collaborative research projects.
With guidance from the PIs, produce scientific manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals, andpresent research data in house and in scientific conferences.
Write as well as assist in the preparation of applications for external grants for research and fellowships. Mayapply and obtain grants as PI in accordance with the Medical Center’s PI Guidance.
Assist in general lab organization and maintenance, supply ordering and liaising with infrastructuredepartments.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, currentliterature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
Attends meetings as required.
Trains new staff and serves as a resource to other lab members, including graduate students, postdoctoralfellows and other technical staff.
Maintains collaborative, team relationships with peers and colleagues in order to effectively contribute to theworking groups achievement of goals, and to help foster a positive work environment
Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.
Minimum of M.S. in biochemistry, cell biology, microbiology, or bioscience degree program.
Two or more year’s research experience acquired through a postdoctoral fellowship or technical position in an academic or biomedical industry setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
Strong knowledge of molecular or cellular biology techniques, biochemistry.
Highly self-motivated candidate, with the ability to function independently.
Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential.
