This Research Administrator II will be responsible for:
Performing pre-award functions such as assisting Principal Investigators in completion of grant proposals, including budget development, drafting administrative sections, collecting materials, and obtaining institutional review/approval.
Performing post-award functions such as allocation of research labor costs across funding sources consistent with level of research effort and approves purchase requisitions. Coordinates departmental research effort reporting and ensures timely submission of certified effort reports in compliance with sponsor and institutional guidelines. Uses institutional resources to maintain department records of grant awards and agreements.
Assisting research staff in identifying sources of funding by maintaining knowledge of agency programs and disseminating information to staff.
Working with appropriate central offices (Research Administration, Research Finance, Accounts Payable, etc.) to submit sponsor reports, troubleshoot, and resolve matters.
Working with investigators to develop annual research/clinical trial budgets; reconciles monthly expenses to budget; forecasts over/under expenditures and provides regular status reports to the Principal Investigator. Performs other financial analysis as needed.
Ensuring timely renewal of grant and subcontracts and/or orderly closeout of completed sponsored activities.
Attending institutional training to keep skills current and knowledge up-to-date on sponsor regulations, hospital policies, and emerging technologies.
To qualify, you must have:
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of Research Administration experience required or 4 years of Research Administration experience may substitute for degree.
A demonstrated understanding of federal policies and cost principles in order to ensure the proper stewardship of sponsored funds. Work requires strong communication skills in order to effectively manage conflicting views or issues to mediate fair solutions.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and database applications.
Ability to independently seek out answers from the appropriate federal compliance and regulatory resource(s) and/or the hospital technical expert(s).
