Job Description
The Multimedia Reporter, Innovation & Business is responsible for engaging and informing users of wbur.org and WBUR 90.9 with an editorial focus on the local innovation/tech/business sector.
Essential functions include:
Covering news events, developments, and feature stories with an emphasis on the innovation and tech sectors as assigned by the Managing Editor, News Content or the Executive Editor
Monitors daily news and makes the independent judgment on when, how, and whether to pursue a news story with input from editors.
Complete execution of a multimedia story for digital, social and radio platforms, including conducting interviews, writing stories, posting and monitoring on social media platforms.
Developing sources and contributing to story ideas as well as contributing to WBUR social media channels, especially those focused on coverage of innovation, tech and business.
Must have a strong comprehension of online news presentation. Must understand mission and tone of public radio. Must be a self-starter and prolific contributor.
Develop story ideas, projects and sources by following business news, community leaders, attending events and tracking ongoing regional business issues. Read many regional newspapers and journals.
Engage WBUR audiences online at wbur.org; at live events and on social media through Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks; and curate the team's Twitter account
Schedule:
This is a Sunday-Thursday position, with some general assignment duties anticipated, especially on Sundays.

Required Skills
