Join Takeda as a Principal Data Scientist where you will be responsible for the design, development, and execution of Takeda’s global RWD ecosystem, understanding and communicating Takeda’s Real World Data (RWD) priorities and needs, discovering opportunities for RWD innovation, and ensuring strong compliance systems. The role demands knowledge of RWD types and resources, a strong execution focus, and excellent communication skills. Success in this role will also require constant attention to changing priorities and needs, readiness to proactively develop solutions in the market where none yet exist, and a collaborative approach as this role is embedded in matrix teams to ensure visibility and exchange of information. As part of the Real World Data Center of Excellent (RWD CoE) team, you will report to the Global Head of the team and work with organization that is meant to foster an environment that simplifies and accelerates collaboration-driven insights that enable data driven business decisions by bringing best practices and standardizing approaches to common questions involving real world data.

How you will contribute:

  • Develop and implement enterprise data strategies to efficiently address business needs.

  • Collaborate internally and externally to address unmet needs and bridge the gaps with best-of-breed datasets.

  • Strengthen partnerships with stakeholders within the organization and externally with data providers, platform vendors, healthcare providers, payers, FDA etc.

  • Act as a knowledge developer and repository around protocols, policies, publications etc related to RWD.

  • Deliver Takeda’s RWD strategy and ecosystem covering existing, emerging, and developmental data sources compliantly and in alignment with Takeda’s business priorities, focused on business value and impact.

  • Assist the RWD CoE in the execution of the strategy development process, partnership development, and enablement of systems in support of global RWD access, innovation and delivery; create and execute a vision for the future RWD ecosystem.

  • Assist with the RWD strategy process including leadership of matrix teams, collaborating with researchers and expert contributors to assess and recommend data opportunities; lead data strategy working group operations supporting data assessments with functional subject matter experts (SMEs).

  • Deliver objective RWD assessments that focus on potential value and fit in the RWD ecosystem.

  • Deliver a global RWD governance system that enables innovation within compliance limits and monitors legal and contractual obligations; ensure Takeda is in compliance with applicable law, contracts and standard operating procedures (SOPs)•Drive the broadening of the RWD user base.

  • Develop global RWD partnerships to bring unique data opportunities that address Takeda’s data priorities; establish Takeda as a partner of choice for novel data exchange projects.

  • Enable the data acquisition process to ensure appropriate RWD fit for Takeda; partner with Legal to embed this process into global SOPs.

  • Collaborate with research leaders to identify RWD use cases and gaps, and engineer appropriate project-level solutions.

  • Provide Takeda functions with consultative support on RWD solutions to ensure high quality, value-driven research projects.

  • Assess the global RWD environment across geographies and engagement points.

  • Partner with Global Evidence and Outcomes (GEO) and Information Technology (IT) to deliver a state-of-the-art analytics ecosystem; ensure that access to externally hosted databases/platforms is streamlined and secure.

  • Lead global organizational RWD transparency and education by delivering learning modules on relevant dimensions for users’ qualifications

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a relevant discipline such as, but not limited to health services research, health outcomes research, epidemiology, public health, statistics, outcomes research, technology, engineering or decision sciences, is required.

  • Minimum of 8-10 years practical experience in performing epidemiology and outcomes research in any setting, including life sciences company, research organization, academic institution or governmental agency and/or working with big data and data analytics.

  • Knowledge of drug development and commercialization.

  • Direct experience in the pharmaceutical industry or related field required.

  • Previous experience leading a medium to large organization and influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders is a plus.

  • Health care business acumen with a comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Experience with US and ex-US data collaborators and licensors

  • Thorough technical and scientific understanding of observational research methods

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$149,100.00 - $234,300.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
