Project Manager

Intertek is searching for a Project Manager to join our Noise, Acoustics and Vibration Group within the Building & Construction team in our Boston, MA office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in Acoustics!

The Project Manager is primarily responsible for providing acoustical consulting services for the assessment of the acoustics of projects, whether they are in design or existing facilities. This role will involve p erform reviews of architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical drawings, shop drawings and submittals pertaining to acoustics for projects and developing feedback, assessments, and recommendations for the acoustics in the form of written, graphical, and innovative forms of information delivery. This position will involve quantitative analyses of acoustics and modeling of interior and exterior acoustic conditions. The role will also include time at projects to perform observations, measurements, or testing of the acoustics.

What you’ll do:

  • Follow and enforce safety requirements and company policies.

  • Prepare proposals and develop new business

  • Develop innovative approaches to analyses and recommendations to advance and expand Intertek’s acoustic services for our clients

  • Prepare accurate and concise reports for projects with clients, designers, contractors and coworkers

  • Provide effective communication with clients, designers, contractors and coworkers both in writing and orally.

  • Perform site visits of projects to observe progress and provide feedback in field observation reports to the client

  • Project management, including planning, scheduling, staffing, execution, and reporting, with supervision

  • Collaborate with the team of professionals as part of Intertek rapidly growing Building Sciences Group

  • Research new opportunities or processes for performing our services or learn new skills

  • Maintain enough workload/backlog to meet target staff utilization rates

  • Complete timecard, expense reports, and project-related financial requirements without reminders

  • Travel to local, regional, national, international and overnight destinations, as required for assigned projects and tasks

What it takes to be successful in this role:

  • Minimum 4 years of acoustical consulting experience in the building and construction industry

  • Must have BS in engineering, architecture, or other related degree

  • Preferred MS in acoustics or engineering

  • Ability to perform office tasks and physical labor tasks

  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks

  • Willingness to travel as required

  • Sound computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record (required)

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen
