Job Summary

Red Hat’s InstructLab & Granite team is looking for a product owner to join our team - help us democratize AI with open source! In this role, you’ll serve as a key liaison from our engineering teams to product management and contribute directly to Red Hat’s rapidly growing AI/ML (artificial intelligence and machine learning) family of products. This is a very exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of the evolution of AI.

This role is critical in enabling our teams to succeed with clear strategic definition and governance of priorities teams are asked to work on. In addition, you will help shape and drive the implementation of Agile practices aligned with the work breakdown of priorities.

The ideal candidate will be a highly collaborative individual with a strong understanding of the product development lifecycle, excellent communication skills, and passion for working on complex and fast-paced projects.

This position reports directly to the Manager of Software Engineering for InstructLab. This position must have the ability to partner collaboratively in our Boston, MA office at least 3 days per week.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Champions product vision and strategy across the portfolio and in partnership with architects, tech leads, and management toward enabling execution for teams and maximizing customer impact

  • Serve as product ambassador internally and externally, sharing knowledge and answering questions

  • Enables and unblocks teams in planning work, accepting work, managing risks, managing scope, and negotiating prioritization trade-offs

  • Facilitates product roadmaps through the unified backlog, linkage to team backlogs, grooming of the backlogs, and ceremonies to drive alignment between product and engineering

  • Owns the definition of the backlog through definition of done, acceptance criteria, strategic value, product requirements, and more

  • Represents work breakdown through the full definition of done across various stakeholders (dependent work, QE, docs, and more)

  • Helps facilitate the management of product-related data and success metrics for priorities and for product feedback loops

  • Drives effective management of status through automation, reporting, and ceremonies

  • Promotes continuous improvement across teams in practice toward responsible planning and accountability

  • Ensures alignment between key stakeholders; works with them to communicate plans, changes, and drive to ensure teams can benefit from automated reporting and health tracking, and drive tradeoff conversations when necessary

Required Skills

  • Five or more years of experience in product development

  • In-depth knowledge of agile methodology for project management

  • Advanced use of Atlassian Jira for team work management

  • Understanding of business value related to features and functions

  • Demonstrated aptitude and eagerness to learn from a new environment and make an impact quickly

  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication, presentation, and leadership skills

  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to effectively manage conflicting needs of stakeholders

  • Passion for collaboration

The salary range for this position is $144,660.00 - $238,650.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
