Microsoft Corporation Principal Product Manager in Boston, Massachusetts

The Silicon, Graphics, and Multimedia (SIGMA) team is focused on building Edge platforms, devices, and services that deliver magical experiences across Microsoft, empowering every person and organization to achieve more. Our SIGMA OS Componentization team is focused on designing, building and delivering the core OS platform capabilities to lead our innovations in how we build the Windows operating system for Modern Devices.

As the Principal Product Manager for the Componentization Client Team, you will be central to ensuring strategic execution and operational cohesiveness across multiple cross-functional and cross-product teams. You will rely on sound judgment under pressure, a technical background, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills to balance a high operational speed with a vision and strategy for transforming the way our users experience the next generation of computers and tablets. Your impact and demonstrated leadership will define the growth of the team.

Both remote work and on-site candidates will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a voice and vision for the OS platform across teams and product areas (PAs) for new and evolving products that combines technical, product, and strategic business insights.

  • Provide technical and operational consultancy to Engineering and

  • Product to build best-in-class Windows OS platforms and services and increase operational efficiencies.

  • Serve as a point of contact for other internal teams, ensuring proper prioritization and cross-team alignment, and identifying and solving cross-functional and inter-team issues quickly.

  • Design and develop tools to increase the velocity of OS composition engineering work and reliability of product launches. Build and execute standardized processes to address acute or recurring issues across product and feature launches and deprecations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required and 8+ years of program and/or product management experience within an engineering environment.

  • Experience with cross-organizational / cross-group development spanning multiple organizational structures.

  • Experience in driving customer conversations to solicit actionable insight.

  • Experience working through a complete product cycle (from initial design through post-release sustainment).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Leadership experience with the ability to work well across business units, building relationships in order to negotiate and deliver on joint objectives and key results, plus experience shipping v1 products

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, synthesizing complex technical and business concepts into clear, insightful messages.

  • Ability to think innovatively, problem solve systematically, collaborate cross-functionally, and work through to a solution to ambiguous problems in fast-paced, high-stress environments

  • Experience working with geographically dispersed teams

  • Strong customer focus and passion for design

  • High tolerance for ambiguity and change.

  • Excellent design and problem-solving skills.
