Job summary

The Red Hat Portfolio Product Marketing team is looking for a Principal PnT Communications Strategist to join us in Boston, MA. In this role, you will work as part of a team which plays a critical role in areas like Products and Technologies (PnT) communications, portfolio themes, and thought leadership, among others. Our continued success requires that our inter and intra-team communications are correct and concise, keeping our global audience engaged with our strategy and informed of what’s going on across the organization, all while creating a good sense of team across geographically distributed sites. You’ll help create, publish, and track content and improve how the PnT team communicates, advising on both internal executive and organizational communications, as well as the product marketing content designed to enable our field teams. You’ll have the opportunity to work with the teams that design, build, market, and support Red Hat’s offerings, in addition to our executive leadership. As a Principal PnT Communications Strategist, you’ll need to enjoy learning about new things, have a passion for connecting people and ideas, and be able to translate technical concepts into easy-to-understand language, knowíng how to craft effective communications for a more technical audience.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Partner closely with executive leadership to write, edit, review, and oversee the releases of internal communication documents that support the team

  • Create, edit, and enhance internal communication materials, including intranet content, newsletters, emails, and live events

  • Serve as an organizational communications leader in region, connecting with other communicators in region to share best practices

  • Work with product and portfolio marketing managers to define and disseminate best practices related to field-facing content

  • Review and edit essential and sometimes confidential internal communications prior to dissemination to ensure accuracy, clarity, and appropriateness

  • Coordinate internal communication efforts with other communications and branding teams at Red Hat

  • Work closely with executive management and other teams to stay informed of developments and trends within the organization

  • Assist with the development and implementation of new and existing communication vehicles

Required skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations (PR), professional writing and editing, or a related field, or equivalent experience; graduate degree is a plus

  • 6-8 years of related work experience

  • Proficiency in office suite tools, preferably G Suite

  • Good language and grammar skills in English

  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, concise language

  • Ability to work as part of a dynamic distributed team, while demonstrating flexibility and initiative

  • Interest in open source and the open source development model

The following are considered a plus:

  • Familiarity with the enterprise software market, including key market trends and technologies

  • High-level understanding of product management methodology

  • Experience with internal content management system (CMS) tools like Jive or Igloo
