Advanced EV Development – Powertrain Systems Integration Engineer

Ford Model E is responsible for developing the key technologies and capabilities – such as EV platforms, batteries, e-motors, inverters, charging and recycling – to create ground-up, breakthrough electric vehicles. The System Safety Engineer will be responsible for safety development and system level design of the Vehicle Electrical System Architecture through multiple stages of development starting from the block diagram architecture phase. You will Conceptualize, Design, Engineer, Develop and support the launch of next generation Vehicle Platform Architectures for electric vehicles.
What you’ll be able to do:
Lead the integration efforts for various powertrain components such as the Drive Unit and the Vehicle Control Module
Interface with the cross-functional teams to identify user stories and own the journey of the user stories from concept to production
Develop and own the powertrain related features and work with the hardware, software, architecture, safety and other cross-functional teams to deliver features
Develop detailed device transmittals for various powertrain components and own the document until production
Support development of test-cases and verification of system level functions on multiple mediums (benches, labcars and vehicles)
Lead the cross-functional development efforts and manage issue escalation & resolution
Report feature development progress and maturity at various program milestones
Participate in architectural and software technical discussions and develop technical solutions while representing the powertrain
The minimum requirements we seek:
B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems
Strong Electrical and Embedded Systems Engineering fundamentals
Certification in ISO 26262 for TUV, UL or similar agency
5+ years of experience designing and developing safety-critical architectures
3+ years of experience using embedded networking interface tools for automotive, aerospace or similar
5+ year of experience in designing and launching new embedded products from concept to production
Preferred Requirements :
M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems
Proven technical expertise in design and mass deployment of safety critical and dependable platforms in a regulated industry such as Automotive, Aerospace, Defense or Medical
Proficiency in fundamentals of embedded systems design, RTOSes and real-time networking
Experiencing designing and evaluating safety of High Voltage systems
Experience in leading product development from concept to deployment in compliance to ISO 26262 or IEC 61508
Strong written and verbal communication skills
An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team
A system approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement
Experience deriving cost, manufacturability, reliability and failure modes tradeoffs from based on specific designs
