<p><strong>Merchandising Associate - Full-Time (Summer 2024 Start)</strong></p>
<p><strong>Who We Are:</strong></p>
<p>As a Merchant, you will develop business strategies and assortment plans to maximize sales and profits for your product category in close collaboration with Brand, Creative, Category Management, Analytics, Physical Retail, and Suppliers. You will own the product curation and will be responsible for ensuring merchandising operational excellence to deliver best in class presentation of our assortment to our customers, ultimately driving the evolution of our proprietary Flagship Brands (FSBs). Leveraging your advocacy for the customer along with category trends with the various inputs available to you: consumer insights, industry trend reports, brand initiatives, performance analytics, strategic company initiatives, and data driven category insights, you'll make a direct impact on overall sales, Wayfair share gains, and help give customers the power to create a home just right for them. </p>
<p><strong>What You’ll Do:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Build and maintain category assortment strategies, inclusive of developing a shelf space plan and actively selecting, developing and iterating on the product offering.</li>
<li>Identify opportunities for category growth, utilizing competitive analysis, trend research and internal performance monitoring as data points.</li>
<li>Partner closely with different teams to determine how best to bring the selection to life in both digital and print.</li>
<li>Maintain a close pulse on upcoming trends and customer needs to identify new assortment opportunities. </li>
<li>Regularly assess financial performance and revise your assortment choices and shelf space allocation strategy as needed. </li>
<li>Travel (1-3x / year) to attend industry trade shows relevant to your categories to partner with strategic suppliers and further optimize our catalog. </li>
</ul>
<p><strong>What You’ll Need:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree earned by date of hire.</li>
<li>Work, internship, or extracurricular experience within a retail and/or omni-channel buying role or relevant experience.</li>
<li>Strong ability to analyze data and think critically about the business, understand and interpret performance trends, and apply learnings to the business. </li>
<li>Strong creative sense, elevated taste level, and love of product. </li>
<li>A genuine passion for industry trends, product design, and home decorating is a plus.</li>
<li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to influence.</li>
<li>Self-starter motivated by the potential to define a creative and strategic vision and have an outsized impact within a team and company.</li>
<li>Ability to travel for competitor diligence, trade shows and/or vendor meetings.</li>

<p><strong><em>Wayfair's In-Office Policy:</em></strong></p>
<p>All Boston-based interns, Co-ops, and corporate employees will be in office in a hybrid capacity. Employees will work in the office on designated days, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and work remotely on Friday.</p>
