State of Massachusetts Mechanical Engineer II, Clean Energy Engineer in Boston, Massachusetts

The Department of Energy Resources (Department) develops and implements policies and programs aimed at ensuring the adequacy, security, diversity, and cost-effectiveness of the Commonwealth's energy supply to create a clean, affordable and resilient energy future for all residents, businesses, communities, and institutions. The Mechanical Engineer II will be responsible for reviewing technical aspects of applications to these programs, in particular, the review of renewable thermal, fuel cell, and combined heat and power applications submitted under the Alternative Portfolio Standard, and clean energy measures proposed to be financed under the forthcoming Commonwealth’s Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) Program. The Mechanical Engineer II will also provide support in the review of project proposals submitted to the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) under the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act (MEPA) and other programs as needed, including but not limited to the review of building energy models, analysis of efficiency improvements, and review of renewable strategies

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, technical or professional experience in mechanical engineering work of which at least (B) one year must have been in a professional capacity, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.

Substitutions:

I. An Associate's degree with a major in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.*

II. A Bachelor's degree with a major in mechanical engineering may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required (A) experience.*

III. A Graduate degree with a major in mechanical engineering may be substituted for the required experience.*

*Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
