Takeda Pharmaceuticals is hiring interns for Summer 2023 ! Are you looking for a patient-focused company that empowers you to shine?

The Takeda Summer Internship is a 12-week program where you will sharpen your skills through a variety of experiences at a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical manufacturing site. At the end of the internship, you will have gained valuable experience at a top pharma company, an in-depth understanding of concepts taught in school, and a network to help you develop as a professional in the industry. This role is designed to challenge interns and contribute to their future careers.

Program Features Include

The following departments are offering internships at our Boston area location:

  • Engineering- support our manufacturing environment by troubleshooting machines, designing floor plans, calculating life cycles of manufacturing equipment, working with the distillation process. Requires enrollment in: Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Biochemical)

  • Manufacturing Sciences/Manufacturing Support Lab - As a member of the MFG support laboratory, this individual will join a group of process scientist and engineers to support downstream processes of commercial productions and late stage clinical process development and productions. The scope of work will include designing studies under instruction, executing experiments and data analysis to support GMP investigations and manufacturing change controls and to reduce reoccurring deviations. The focus of the work will be downstream unit operations such as column chromatography, harvest clarification, TFF and normal flow filtration. This individual may interact with other MS groups and other departments including manufacturing, QC, QA and Engineering. Requires enrollment in: Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry/Protein Chemistry or related disciplines

  • Manufacturing Sciences/Upstream Bioreactor Group - To provide technical support for commercial upstream processes through continuous improvement/innovation of process analytical technology (PAT), perfusion filtration technologies and digital platform built-up at the Takeda Lexington, Massachusetts facility. Requires enrollment in: Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, bioinformatics, Data Analytics or Bio/Chemistry related major

  • Manufacturing Sciences/Manufacturing Commercial Support Lab - As a member of the MFG Commercial Support Laboratory, this individual will join a group of process scientists and engineers to support process improvements and troubleshooting of downstream processes for commercial programs. Requires enrollment in: Chemical/Biochemical Engineering or Bio/Chemistry

  • Manufacturing Sciences/Tech Transfer - Supporting the addition of new products to the site. All things associated with new product introduction and process validation. Bringing together all functional areas to complete the tech transfer projects. Requires enrollment in: Hard Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry)

Program Timeline:

  • Two start dates: May 15th or June 26th

  • Expected completion of the internship is late August or early September depending on start date.

What you bring to Takeda:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be pursuing an Associate’s, Bachelor's, or Master degree

  • 3.0 GPA or higher

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 25 lbs.

  • Combination of sedentary work and standing/walking observation

Work Environment:

  • Depending on the department, you may work in controlled environments requiring special gowning. Gowning requirements include a wearing protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. No make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish or artificial fingernails may be worn in the manufacturing environment.

  • May work in a cold, wet environment

  • Can work several shifts, including weekends.

  • Work several shifts and overtime may be necessary.

  • May be asked to work in a confined area.

  • Some Clean Room and cool/hot storage conditions.
