About the Role
The Alternatives Platform Marketing lead is a critical role on the Global Marketing team. We seek a skilled professional who combines strong alternatives marketing expertise, strategic marketing experience, a client perspective, and a commercial lens to partner with business leadership and product management, other members of the marketing team, portfolio managers, fund sponsors, legal & compliance and our client group to effectively position and communicate our alternative investments capabilities. This individual will be responsible for developing the overarching marketing strategy and executing tactical marketing plans in coordination with key stakeholders.
This role is part of a global marketing function with locations in Boston, London, Singapore, and Tokyo. This individual will partner closely with our EMEA and APAC marketing teams, our products marketers, as well as with our channel marketers who are aligned with our global client-facing teams. Global Marketing also includes teams dedicated to content creation and management (writing/editing/proofreading, readership optimization and content tagging), public relations, design (digital and print), marketing operations and project management, digital marketing, and events.
Specific responsibilities include:
Facilitate strategic discussions with business partners to identify marketing priorities, and define near- and longer-term marketing strategies to support these priorities;
Ensure the marketing plans are focused on maximizing results by highlighting Wellington’s competitive advantages and amplifying them;
Develop and drive integrated marketing programs and tactics, collaborating with colleagues to develop and implement, and ensuring alignment with strategy, timeline, and budget;
Stay current with internal and external investment trends and marketplace dynamics (competitor analysis, topics of interest);
Understand what content is most impactful for each of the audiences in our channels and how best to increase client and prospect engagement;
Partner with analytics to improve the effectiveness of marketing programs, helping to make insightful, data-driven marketing decisions;
Mine data-driven metrics for marketing ROI and unique client preferences and buying behavior;
Generate innovative ideas to promote our alternatives brand and capabilities;
Ensure brand consistency through all marketing channels.
Closely collaborate with global privates marketing and global sustainable investing marketing colleagues
Collaborate with Client Services Group and product management on sales training and support, as well as dissemination of new materials
Specific qualifications include:
Previous alternatives investing marketing experience (10 years)
Development of integrated marketing plans, including paid and earned media, public relations, social, thought leadership, email, website and event tactics
Strong technical industry, product and investment knowledge
Ability to both create content and provide strategic marketing input
Ability to tell ‘stories’ through content that will engage a variety of audiences, allocators and portfolio companies
Entrepreneurial mindset and intellectual curiosity
Global mindset; experience in working across borders (particularly in continental Europe and Asia), time zones and cultures
Flexibility and the ability to partner effectively with others, seek a wider audience, build consensus, influence, and act decisively
Strong collaborator and influencer – ability to engage with multiple stakeholders and quickly build relationships
Effective communication skills, including interpersonal, verbal, and written
Demonstrated project management skills
